Curious to see where people rank Capela amongst the "bigs". With how fluid today's game is, rankings will be (and always are) a bit subjective. I got into a debate after last night's game with some buddies re: Capela's ranking. I think his play thus far in the playoffs has him cracking into the top 5 for "bigs". I have: 1) AD 2) Jokic 3) Embiid 4) Boogie 5) Capela 6) Draymond 7) KAT 8) Gobert 9) Kristaps 10) Gasol 11 - 15: Turner, Love, Valancunias, LMA, Millsap Just missed: Adams So, @clutchfans, where does Capela rank among bigs *right now*? Does he crack the top 5? If not, where would you rank him? Did I forget any bigs or maybe some players are listed who aren't "bigs"? Capela's offensive success is partially thanks to our system and playing with JH and CP3. But to me, his defense gets him in the top 5. His defense last night was beautiful. Respectable on the perimeter and just flat out denied UTA all night long. Clint has looked elite all season...but now he's now doing it when it matters. Am I just a homer, or is Clint a top 5 big?
If Clint continues this intensity and production over an entire season, he'll be right there. I'd like to see two more things from him 1. Become a 75% FT shooter 2. Consistently punish a "mouse in the house". When the Rockets get a big switched on to Harden, CP3 or EG, I don't want the obvious play to always be an isolation on the perimeter.
Capela reminds me of Boston Rondo. Rondo's stats were good, but not the best. When Rondo went up against Great Players, he routinely out played them because he is a gamer. Capela routinely out played Kat and now Rudy Gobert. He is going to get the max.
1. Anthony Davis 2. Joel Embiid. 3. Capela!! Besides those binafide stars. No Center plays their role better than Capela. Every game he plays this post season makes his contract this summer soo much bigger.
His real defining moment will be if he can torment the Warriors. They are going to try Draymond on him and he will need to kill GSW on the glass and in the paint. Hoping he does.
KAT is much better than Capela. You put Kat in a pick and roll/pop with our back court and we are a better team.
KAT is better offensively no doubt. But his defense has been suspect since he joined the league. In a playoff game *right now*, all else being equal, I give the slight edge to Capela.
Did you not just watch Capela dominate KAT for 5 games? How can you say he is better? Capela was blocking his post moves left and right and beating him down the court for easy dunks. If you swapped Capela and Towns the Rockets would be worse.
We are just comparing centers. If any Center can play with the warriors it would be Capela. But I foresee a lot of small ball lineups.
Capela's performance last night really earned him a lot of Clutchfans threads! I'm sure glad we have him and the Warriors have Zaza.
Top Seven His defense is Top 5 when you consider rebounding and perimeter ability. His offense is Top 10 considering his hands, ability to finish in the air, o-rebs tipping, and floor running. He's lob dependent, but today's game serves perimeter players to penetrate.
Yeah Capela outplayed him but if you switch players one team gets better one team gets worst. Capela job is much easier then KATs.
Not really. there are plenty of players who are not in the league or on the benches scrubbing that are better than Capela Dwayne Deadman Jared Uthoff Jeff Withey Chianauna oanaunaku Joe Cheese
And Capela is still getting better. He’s starting to make some awesome offensive moves on his own; not just relying on alley-oops... His stamina is getting far superior than I thought it’d be this soon. He used to get winded after 5 minutes of playing time. Now he runs at gazelle level for an entire 10 minutes at a time.
Imo top 5 Can yall imagine him developing mid range jumper, holly **** the guy will be unstoppable, however AD and embiid have way more superior offensive skill than he does as of now
