I don;t know if the Rox would take him and that contract (it might be worse than Mo's - just in terms of years and his age) BUT... I think it is interesting that dispite his bigger contract a JVG-type of coach (i.e. defense first) is willing to sit a high priced player for a rookie that undestands his role and WANTS TO WIN

... hear that JVG - you don't HAVE to put Mo out there if he is not willing to drink a cup of CARE before the games !!!!

There is no way the Spurs as unhappy with Barry as they might be would take Mo or Howard's contract. If you think Balki and Francis didn't get along just think of how crater face and Mo and his 3 rebounds a week would mesh.

The Spurs Front office did'nt become so Successfull by making Dumb moves like Taking on Howard's or Taylors bloated Contracts man. The Spurs Front office is by far is the most well oiled Machine in the leauge.

They certainly have become one of the best. A few years ago they used to be pretty bad about managing the salary cap and taking on bad contracts for past their prime players, in an effort to find that elusive missing piece or shore up a weakness. Sound familiar?

To Pop's credit, they committed to finishing out those contracts while refining their skill at finding/developing high character, hard working, contributing role players. They also followed the lead of others and are now seemingly the best at finding overseas talent.

Now they're committed, long term salary wise, to Duncan, Parker, and Manu, plus a cast that may carry them through the next few years of restricted cap flexibility with a great chance of success. And if Beno works out(which looks good right now), they could trade Parker down the line for another valuable piece or salary cap room. They still make some mistakes like overpaying Rose, but still not killer ones like overpaying Mo, three years for Ward(BTW--I TOLD YOU SO), etc.

So, no way they would take someone like Mo. He can't/won't rebound plus he's way overpaid to not do it.:D

BTW, most of Brent's not playing is due simply to his shot having disappeared since coming here. He was brought in to shore up the Spurs' biggest weakness. So if his shot isn't falling...he simply won't play.

Hmm... that would give us a half-dozen white guys: J. Barry, B. Barry, Boki, Padgett, Sura, Bowen.

That can't be good, can it? Does the NBA even allow that for franchises not located in Utah? ;)
