Lots of Bosh threads, and no doubt he is an upgrade for the Rockets, but IMO, he is not a franchise caliber player.

He reminds me of Yao Ming, a good to great player, but not one that is really capable of leading a team anywhere significant.

I like Bosh and 25 and 11 are huge numbers, but this is a perimeter oriented league, to me most of the franchise players are on the wing, or at the point.

    Not in the paint anymore.

So, in your own opinion, is Chris Bosh a franchise player?

Someone that can lift his teamates up, and lead a team to a championship?

I say no, if you disagree, I would love to hear your thoughts.

So you don't like Melo or Bosh..

Which player would you like the Rockets to go after besides Wade or LBJ?

My money is on Troy Murphy

I voted yes because I can see him leading a team like the Rockets to the promise land.

Women lie, Men Lie, but Numbers don't.

Most of his supporting cast have been garbage to say the least. The last player to have won a championship with a bunch of role players was Hakeem pre-Clyde Drexler. The 2004 Pistons don't count because they had some all-stars on that team.

And I think that you can build a team around a player like Bosh.

Completely disagree. A good big man, regardless of scenario, is always better than a good wing or good PG. The Lakers aren't dangerous because of Kobe, they're dangerous because the Gasol-Bynum combo can overpower everyone in the paint, as has been amply demonstrated in their last two games. The Magic? The best center in the league. The Cavs? Shaq is still okay, and Varejao is a skilled defensive player, and Z and Hickson aren't bad either.

You need good bigs to win, and a Bosh-Yao combo puts us over the top, as that pair can defeat the Gasol-Bynum combo in the end.

Bosh is not a franchise-calibur player. However, I would argue there are only four guys who could be actually called that (Lebron, Durant, Wade, Howard), and we're obviously not going to get those guys. Bosh is as good as it's going to get, and a Yao-Bosh combo, combined with a good backcourt, should defeat everyone.

    Absolutely NOT!

If he was a franchise player, he would stay in Toronto. Since he joined the raptors, they have built a team around them. But, only a couple of playoff appearance, and never passed the 1st round.

Actually, I don't think the raptors want to resign him. All they do right now is to promote him for S&T.

I would think that most of our thoughts on the Bosh situation would have already been posted in the 20 other Bosh threads that have littered the GARM over the past few weeks. ;)

To be fair, Gasol is not a franchise player. That is irrelevant. He's still damn good, and took the Lakers to a championship. Bosh can do the same.

He's still worth the max, right?

The Lakers are rolling to a third straight Finals appearance. Coincidence? I think not.

Depends on what you mean by franchise player.

Bosh is a second tier elite player. He can't carry a team to the playoffs, let alone to a championship. So no, he's not on the same level as LeBron and Wade, or Duncan and Shaq a few years back.

But he is good enough to be the main guy on an elite team. He needs lot of good teammates to win it all. He is sort of like Chris Webber on Adelman's Kings. (I am not saying Bosh and Webber are similar players. I am just saying that they are on the same level in terms of talent--second tier elite.)

Actually, raptors' role players are not that bad. They have made many moves to change role players around Bosh (including coach change), but it seems none of them has worked.

btw, Pau Gasol is not a franchise player either. If the rockets sign Bosh, they also need to sign a franchise player like Kobe.

gasol is second fiddle on that team benefiting from playing with kobe bryant, bosh will not have the same luxury

people are so stupid and fixated on his ridiculous stats on a losing team, if he was a franchise player the raptors would be in the playoffs, wade plays with not even half the talent bosh has on that raptors team and he got a 5th seed

bosh is not a franchise player, hes is tmac with out the scoring title or court vision

If Bosh is not a franchise player, then there aren't 10 players in the entire NBA

I think that Bosh can be the elite player on a winning team if he is buoyed by great role players and other talent around him.

If Yao can have more health after the surgery, he is a good franchise player, I consider him better than Bosh on the court.

Obviously is an important "if". We'll see.

Anyway, you can always trade a Bosh even earning the max.

Absolutely , the numbers don't lie my friend, and his numbers make him franchise player.

IDK if he is or if his not a franchise player.... but if he were to get traded here, we could kick some serious ass!!!
