I think you can make a case that he is the worst ever, or at least the worst of the last 30 years. Am I wrong?

Yes, you are wrong. For as much as I want Kubiak gone, he did take this team from bad to mediocre. He did give us our first winning season last year and a chance at the playoffs. I can understand why he wasn't canned before.

However, giving Kubiak an extension when he still had a year left on his contract just because he didn't want Kubiak to have the pressure of being a lame duck coach was a big mistake. And not firing he entire coaching staff and GM before next season would be a mistake as well.

That would be bad, but it would hardly make him the worst Houston sports owner ever.

If he fires Kubiak, then I'm cool with McNair and I won't really fault him for not firing him earlier.

Most posters are too young to remember the astros and rockets before Drayton and Les

Not sure I'd call him inept, since his only apparent goal is to make $$$ and he's making a crapton of it.

he's making money, therefore McNair=happy business man.

However, he's not the easiest owner to root for because he likes his money more than paying to get high priced talent here. He'll argue that he's paying Andre money and Mario and Schaub and Demeco but he won't go after the marquee free agents.

He'll settle for full houses with season ticket holders blindly paying for "football" than risk going for broke and winning only one or two more games a year.

All about profit margins. He's comfy where he's at. And it won't change until the season ticket holders all stop paying for average football.

He gets more worked up about some eses starting S*** in the parking lots than calling out the coaches.
I want my owner somewhere in the middle involved, but not to the point where he is drafting players.

The worst current owner, yes. The worst of all time, no.

Worst of all time would include Bud and the Rockets owner who almost traded Dream for "faking" an injury.

Bob is not a moron. Morons don't become millionaires. But Bob should stick to horses and whatever he does cause his football personnel decisions stink. Kubiak should be let go. Tomorrow.

Who would be worse? John McMullen, much as I despised him, brought the Astros two playoff appearances and a near miss in 1979.

Les inherited a pretty decent team from Charlie Thomas.

That's what he tries to do. He gets his football guys and stays out of all football decisions.

The problem with McNair is he ends up developing personal relationships with his coach and GM when he should be more cut throat with them. He should have never given Kubiak the contract extension.

Bud was a jerk for taking away the Oilers, but he was not inept. The Oilers had some awful teams, but they also made the playoffs on multiple occasions.

As for the Rockets, that was Charlie Thomas no? And he did not trade Olajuwon. In fact he gave Les the keys to a very good team. You could argue that Les really gravy trained off of Thomas and has been living off of that ever since.

    A Bill Simmons tweet.

The only reason McNair should wait until the off-season to fire Kubiak is the risk of firing up the team, and hurting our draft position with meaningless wins.
