I'd be Okay with Barry! 3 year 20 million for a guy who'll make anyone pay for double teaming McGrady or Yao.

The Rockets would be the highest scoring team in the league.

It's not us. We are over the cap and only has the MLE to work with, which is no more than 6 millions.

Unless..., unless Barry wants the real chance to contend and sign with us for the same amount that Seattle is offering him.

However, if we get Barry, then we won't get Fisher, unless in a S&T situation. It would be ideal for us to get both, and stay away from Snow and Hudson.

If some team is crazy enough to pay him 7 million dollars when he's 36 years old, I just hope it's not the Rockets.

Even if we get Kobe + Iverson + Dirk in addition to T-Mac and Barry, there is no way we can lead the league in scoring.

    Reason? JVG

i would give mle for 3 years which equals about 17 million.

plus y would he go to the sonics again. the team isnt going anywhere imo. they have no low post presence at all. they have quality and depth in the backcourt with daniels, lewis, allen, murray, and ridnour. i think sonics are ready to go with ridnour at pg and let barry go. plus if barry comes here, he will have a starting pg position for about 30 mins a game and gets to play with t-mac and yao and also will get likely easier and wide open shots when teams double either yao or t-mac

    Let me rephrase that.

We'd be the highest scoring team each night on the court the Rockets play on.

I'm a huge fan of his shooting, but... gee. Price is pretty steep.

On the other hand, if we're using the full TE to get him... that's the 20 mil. I'd be ok with that, if Seattle ALSO helps us by taking away Mo Taylor in exchange for Jerome James or Vitaly Potepenko and 3 mil in other contracts, or Mo & Spoon for both those guys. Seems only fair - if we're handing Seattle the TE for a sign and trade Barry - they can help us out with a bad contract swap to fill needs.

    ALTERNATIVE :

Bring on Arroyo. Preferably in a package with Harpring - put them together and now there's the combination of defense, rebounding shooting, and ball distribution we are looking for.

Just checking... too rich for me too. I'm hopin that when JVG is talking VALUE bb at 3 yr 18mil ain't it. I could be wrong but i think we could have Fisher for less. While I can appreciate the offense he would bring to this club I personally do not want to see the Rox turn into Dallas. At the point defensively i think he will be a liability.

The MLE which should be around 5-5.5 million this year is 19 million over 3 years with the 15 percent increases every year. So essentially BB just wants the MLE for 3 years which isn't bad.

I thought that article said that 3 years at 18 million is what the Sonics have already offered and Barry hasn't accepted. I read elsewhere he wants a four year contract.

Getting cold feet all of the sudden?

It was originally thought that he would demand 4 years, 24mil

Ok Ok OK - if it's us ... it has to be the TE or a MoT trade. We don't have any other money. So ... I'm down. I guess the 6 mil offer had to come from Denver - I don't know who else has the cap room.

Just try to make the Mo T deal, please. Bring it on, Brent ! Bombs away!

EDIT - AGAIN - Ok, I'm getting seriously mental on this, but we also have to consider the tax differential. Colorado has god-awful state taxes, indifferent "fans" and a load of smug ex-hippie armpit-hair femmes.

Houston has the Colorado, no state income tax, Yao and Tracy and the world's best fan love. Plus, the gallery furniture advert signing bonus.

Say it Brent- "Gallery Furniture really will - Save Yao Money." (cue Yao cameo, cash flash, big grin.)

That, your new "best friend Cathy" and all the rest that will lock down on Houston's new favorite media-friendly Bull pitchman.

    No contest, really :).

MLE money for the best shooter in the NBA would be money well spent. People say BB cannot defend, but he is 6 ft 6 and they say you can't teach height.

Yup, Peja would be a steal with the MLE.

We're not talking about the best shooter that can't shoot a lick during the playoffs.;)

I think only 10% increases are allowed on MLE contracts.

For the record BB shot 50.4% and 45.2% from 3pt range this year and Peja shot 48% and 43.3% 3pt. In fact Peja has NEVER shot more than 50% from the field and BB has done it twice.

As good as BBarry is, I doubt he's offered that much. Someone is trying to run up the numbers.

A few months back, it was reported that he wanted a 4 year, 5mil per contract.
