Makes you wonder since he couldn't beat out Blake or Rodriguez, who the Blazers thought so lowly of they are already gone. Then, instead of promoting him, they go out and get Miller. If that isn't a slap in the face, I don't know what is.

bayless, at best, seems like a poor man's aaron brooks. there's probably a reason he didn't crack the rotation in portland. might have something to do with the me-first shot selection and selfish highlight reels from his college days. he's the only player I've ever seen smack his own chest when down by 20 points in a crucial game.

Other than taking the chance on Bayless, I would much rather just keep Lowry. Like a runningback tandem in football, we have the point guard tandem in basketball. The speedy guy, who runs past everyone, and the power guy, who adds bulk to the combo. In basketball talk, Brooks is the guy who blows by everyone on fast breaks, and gets easy layups and 3's, and Lowry is the guy who drives the lane hard, draws the fouls, and gets the free throws. It is very hard to stop a combo like that because if one option is being shut down, more than likely the other will be very successful. :D Would be upset to see one of them go, unless it is used to get a star (unlikely). Love the Brooks/Lowry combo :) , really hope we keep them.

Bayless wishes he could be as good as Aaron Brooks is.

Quick scoring point guard, 6'3 had good size. He still has a lot of potential. I like Battier for Bayless+ Physbilla.

    No.

Our point guards are both much better than Portland's point guards who got any playing time last season, and Portland's point guards who got any playing time last season are much better than Bayless.

this is the guy who was widely projected to go no.4 in last year's draft and it was a surprise he slipped so far in the draft.

this is a bargain in the waiting. portland was never going to give him substantial minutes due to him being a rookie and them contending full force. so next year on the rockets if he came here to play 25+mpg would make blazers fans sob like they did when jermaine oneal got out of their doghouse

I don't see anything in Bayless that Brooks cannot do. Maybe defensively but even then I don't see a huge difference.

First off, I'm really frickin drunk. Secondly, no, he is not a better option at point guard. Getting him would be the end of the Brooks/Lowry combo. I cant deal with the loss of that considering how fn crappy our offseason has been. No bueno. If Portland wanted one of our players, it was most likely Brooks, who was a star at Univ. of Oregon, considering how bad they wanted a legit starting point guard. They got Andre Miller, which more than likely killed some steam in their Brooks interest. I just dont see any reason to move in Bayless for Lowry either, so unless there is a bigger deal at hand (all though it works through the trade checker with Lowry)...I dont see why he would be a target.

Bayless would be a fricken awesome point guard if he had any point guard skills.

Don´t know why people question his skills, he played great in Arizona and in Summer League. 6´3 is a goood size for a Guard, he´s very athletic and his jumpshot is good. Problem is Portland didn´t give him any chance to show his skills from the beginning. He played for Team USA U-18, Junior Select and is just 20 years old. Lookin at potential he´s above Brooks and Lowry. I would keep Lowry as a backup for Bayless cause Brooks isn´t a good playmaker. Trade Brooks and maybe Landry for a decent center.

At present I have to agree with you. however If and when Bayless gets that much needed playing time then I see Bayless as a bit of an upgrade.

I may be biased here.......but YES I WANT HIM!

He has good size, he can shoot it, and has an excellent mid range game. He also SUPERB athleticism and quickness and can finish strong (something Brooks can't do)

He and Brooks can co-exist, because Brooks predominantly plays PG and since we're so thin at SG right now Bayless can a steal if we can get him.

Seeing as how the Rockets went after Rubio...they are not sold on Brooks...I think Brooks lack of size will hurt....If Bayless has the potential to be a better defender, then it is an upgrade...we know he can score. The only obstacle to his potential is maturity....that is the wild card with him...if they can reign him in, then he has the potential to be a better all around guard than Brooks.

Good point on the team not being sold on Brooks. They might think of him as a back up and not as a starting point guard. Bayless, given playing time could mature fast enough to be a special type of a player. In Portland, He was used sparingly.
