I watched "Changeling" a couple of weekends ago, actually I couldn't even finish it because it was too long. But after watching 2 hours of it, I'm like, did she really get nominated for this. then i thought, what is the big deal about her. admittedly, i've only seen her in a few movies, and i haven't seen her in the movie she won an oscar for, but I'm not impressed. the other thing about her is her lips are so incredibly large that its a distraction. they look ridiculous. do people really find them appealing. she's a very attractive woman obviously, I'm not disputing that. but the lips are overwhelming. this topic may not deserve its own thread, but I couldn't help it.
I thought she was pretty good in the Changeling. Tomb Raider, Wanted, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith: Gah-bage.
Changeling was a really interesting movie, but like you, after watching it I was thinking "why was she nominated?" I don't get what's special about her performances. She is an attractive woman and that's good, but as an actress I think she just does an adequate job. Gia was a good role for her because she basically got to be herself and I think she did a good job in it, but beyond that I've never seen a movie where her acting made me think "man she was a good actress!"
I remember seeing a preview and she said something like...'I want my child!'...that was enough..........never watched it.
my biggest problem with her performance, and the writing contributed to this also, it didn't feel like the 1920s/30s. compare her just to naomi watts in king kong during the same period.
She was good in Girl Interupted, but she was also pretty close to home in that role. She is insane hotness though.
I thought Changeling was a good film, Eastwood has become one of the best directors currently working. Angelina's performance was fine but she was probably nominated since last year was a weak year, look at the best picture nominees. I think the only good actresses are British or Meryl Streep.
Really good actress Smoking hot face Smoking hot lips Hot body (a little too skinny for my taste) not that i would kick her out of bed or anything.
would you mind expounding on this a little. I never heard of the story till the movie. i read just a bit of it on wiki, and it seemed to follow the movie.
I think Girl Interrupted is the only movie I've actually sat through that she was in and I didn't think it was that good. But, she is smokin' hot, even if she's nuttier than a pecan tree.
I admire her humanitarian deeds, I will say that. She seems genuinely concerned for the less fortunate.
Well, since I've never been able to watch one of her movies without thinking, "Hey, there's Angelina Jolie," I would say she's not a good actress.
Spoiler First of all, the real woman had seen a picture of the boy claiming to be her son and thought it was him. It was she who paid to have him brought home and said he was hers. After that when the Chicken Coop murders were discovered, there wasn't any doubt that her son had been murdered. The woman involved in the murders had confessed to the crime (though she may have later recanted I don't remember). Walter Collins had been tortured for like a week or something before the lady killed him. While the killer did send a telegram saying he'd tell them the truth about her son, he never claimed to not have killed him while admitting to other murders.
She was too skinny in Changeling. I used to like her back in her Tomb Raider days, now not at all. Her hands gross me out.
