    Amare's quote about Melo:

To answer your question, nah, I don't think that constitutes tampering.

Amare is just a friend voicing his thoughts. Would have been ok if we had snagged Amare to our team.

Don't think it's tampering. He should've said more... like, "If Melo don't come to NY I'm gonna quit trying."

    Everybody loves more drama.

Is it ever considered tampering if it's a player trying to recruit another player?

Haven't Yao done the same? I recall him calling or texting players in the past that the team wanted.

But those were free agents I think.

I personally don't think it's tampering (or should be, if it is). Players don't really have any power whatsoever to sign players to their team.

    Unless it's a player-owner:

NY Knicks media probably asked him these questions because they don't want Melo to end up in Houston...especially after Morey raped them of their assets.

Out of everyone in the 03 draft class, Carmelo is the only one that plays the Rockets 4 times a year. He is smart enough to know the team is one that doesn't quit, and he could really accomplish a lot with this team.
