I have a feeling he will. Last year, hill really didn't play as much in the last few games of the season. I don't know why adelman still played the veterans over him when we weren't going to make the playoffs. I think this year will be no different. Patterson and Hill may be wasting their talent in the bench and hayes or Jared Jefferies will be playing instead for the 2nd unit.

They will both play when needed for their defense, because they're both better at defense.

Let me say this, I hope Rick has a clean slate for training camp and gives everyone a fair shot to crack the rotation.

    Good question.

I reckon it'll depend on how Hill and PP will come out but, more importantly, Yao.

I still think that Chuck + Yao is our best front-court. Chuck has always been great at preventing guards from going inside to Yao and his lack of size actually transforms into an advantage because it helps him weave around and below Yao.

I'm interested in seeing Scola + Hill and PP + Hill. Hill's gonna be a real good C, I think. PP's not so much a priority. Barring Landry-esque performance, or even that, I'd be looking to package him for a taller big or a defensive swingman.

He gave Bud the minutes he deserved last year. Also, Hill got solid minutes. I trust Adelman

I would hope Hill/PP would get minutes over Jeffries, simply because those 2 have more of a chance of being a Rocket next season than Jeffries. As for Hayes, keep him for when we need tight D. If solid D isn't the #1 priority at that point during the game, let Hill and PP play.

I believe Adelman will play the combination of players he thinks will give the Rockets the best chance of winning the game at hand. Opponent's lineups will factor into coaching decisions about who is on the floor as well as who is healthy and ready to go. The season opening rotation will be decided in training camp based on individual performances. Sometimes rookies simply have to wait, watch and learn. Then they have to produce without too many mistakes if they want to stay on the court.

Hill got his shot soon after he arrived in Houston. I admired the coach for giving him the chance he never had in New York. Hill produced and got a lot of minutes for a rookie. I loved seeing him and Budinger on the floor together. Jeffries looked very impressive defensively and gave quality minutes during a stretch when the Rockets were very thin in the rotation due to injuries.

Chuck Hayes is a very valuable component in the Rocket's lineup. Though undersized for a player in the paint, the Chuck Wagon's defensive intensity and IQ is extremely valuable in spite of insignificant numbers in the box score.

I believe the coach will give every deserving player due consideration for the time on the court. The bottom line...whatever it takes to win...egos be damned...full speed ahead.

I think that the Rockets are trying to get under the cap and possibly get a valuable trade. If that is the case, expect Adleman to showcase Jared for value purposes.

I'm just hoping that the combination of a contract year and the Rockets trying to get under the luxury tax that he has a good showing to better his trade value and that he's worth a sizeable signing/resigning. It can we a winning situation all the way around.

One thing about Adelman is he gives young player a chance to break into a rotation, but he's also fair to the guys who've proven to be effective in the past. That said, Patterson won't be in the rotation early on, most likely. Same thing happened with Landry.

As for Hill, his playing time early on will depend on how he performs in training camp and preseason, I think. He's got a chance to be a major player, but he needs to prove that he gets it.

Adelman will play whoever gives us the best chance to win. That's been his M.O. his entire career.

I think Morey said during the summer league not to expect much playing time for Patterson in the beginning of the season. (Much like Carl Landry)

Whoever can give us the better chance to win for that particular game will be played. Cause it really depends on the match-up.

It's going to be based on matchups and who gives us opportunities to win. I see overall minutes looking something like this though.

    Hayes > Hill > Jeffries > Patterson

While RA normally sticks with the rotation that gives him the best chance of winning, he is also fair and not stupid. If a younger player proves himself and does better than the player in his position that did crack the rotation, he will get his shot. How do you think Budinger and Wafer ever made it into the lineup? RA will use whoever he can to win, even a former useless Aussie scrub.

They are staying right there where they are.
    Both are talented.
    Nothing against JJ and Chuck.
Adelman stated beforehand that Chuck will only be used in certain matchups and in certain situations. I heard it over and over again.
    JJ should be traded.

Hopefully not!! However he might find more spots than Chuck, as he is more versatile !

Hopefully Coach Adelman will give the younger players of potential a chance to develop and end up with a fresher team for the playoffs ! :p

We are ALL IN this season to win a championship this season. This is not a rebuilding year so if Chuck/Jeffries are playing better than Hill/PP then I would guess the minutes would be distributed fairly in favor of Chuck/JJ.

Veterans are way more valuable to championship teams than rookies.

I've heard Morey say on several occasions that Patterson will get virutally no PT this season.
