    Serious question.

There's no doubt that he is above average shooting wise, but his defense is beyond atrocious.

Here are some of the things he does on a regular basis.

    1. He loves to sag into the paint and show a double team, this is beyond useless, I have never seen him bother a postup player with a double let alone ever strip the ball from anyone in the post. His defense is bad enough that he should focus all his attention on his man so he doesn't get the kickout.

    2. He never "plays his man close", he is always sagging off defending the drive, this basically puts no pressure on the opposing PG to run his offensive sets, usually the opposition sets run perfectly cos no one is challenging the initial ball movement.

    3. He has no defensive IQ, he never jumps a passing lane, he never hedges a man higher on a screen play, he doesn't read the offense, his entire defensive mindset is to stop the other man from driving to the basket.

    4. He has no anticipation or quick hands to make up for his lack of bulk. Usually people with physical defects like iverson(too light) or artest(too heavy) make up for it with quick hands to poke the ball away or strip the dribbler. Aaron basically doesn't have either, I have never really seen him disrupt anyone on the drive or on the shot, he doesn't have the tools to do so.

I cannot see how he can possibly be a long term solution at PG when he is the worst defensive PG in the league.

I can't see how he's the longterm Starting PG either, but try telling that to DD and the rest of the Aaron lovers....SMH

Are you kidding me, Fisher is a great defensive PG, especially in the playoffs, he gets away with so much grabbing and pushing and shoving. he's got a bad matchup with Brooks last year but if we meet the lakers this year, i guarantee he will make Brooks inefficient with all sorts of dirty tactics.

I dont understand how the majority of the posters on here LOVE CBUD but HATE AB!!!

Someone please tell me whats wrong with a guy leading the league in 3 point shots made (last I heard) and scoring 20 points a game???

And CBUD is never gonna contribute more than he does now!

The built in excuse is that he shoulders so much of the scoring load that he has to save energy on the other half of the court. But yeah, he doesn't have much interest in playing D. I'd like for him to at least get 1 or 2 steals a game, tonight he had 0.

I agree. We're losing games and it's not Aaron's fault.. He's out best player out there right now. He's just the new whipping boy.

When he gives up as many if not more points than he scores, it's a problem.

I wish we could see more of an AB/Temple backcourt. Let Temple do the decision making and Aaron do the scoring while Temple guarding the 2-guard and Aaron guarding the 1 (tho I realize that this problem was why the thread was created, not much we could do to change that).

People jumped all over T-Mac and said he quite after he just let a player score without even trying to stop him in the Toronta game last year. Aaron did he exact same thing in the first quarter causing Adelman to call a timeout. He made absolutely not attempt to play defense on that one play. Just kept backing up and backing up until the Magic player scored.

Devin Harris ability to guard tony parker is what caused the mavericks to beat the spurs in the 2005 playoffs.

Not defensively but he probably the very worst passing point guard in the league (out of starters).

Baseless claim. How the heck do you know he won't improve as a player?
