Browsing through the rest of the Rox sked after the All Star break, theyll play 21 out of 36 on the road, on all probability, assuming they win at least 10 home games and steal 9 away games, theyd end up with 45 wins.

Will this be enough to .extend the Rox season? the road ahead seems really tough. Plus 21 games are against the West teams, which all the more makes it difficult to secure a playoff spot based on team wins. Timberwolves, Suns and Jazz must slump to make it doable............ :) :) :)

Given the level of play we see now- 45 wins will not do it. The Jazz, Suns, and T wolves are all on a more consistent playing level now. I think it will take a very strong push by the Rockets playing at their best to make th playoffs- 49 wins needed....

I think 48 wins will do it. Obviously, the goal is to win every game.

But I expect us to end up with a surprise 49 wins, and who the hell cares who goes out. Look within our team, WE need to win OUR games. Forget the standings.

45 wins will NOT cut it. Definitely not this year. Which brings up an interesting dilemma. Say the Rockets win 45 games again for the 2nd time in 3 years and fall short of the postseason. Does Rudy deserve to get canned?

Sane is correct. The Rockets will need 49 wins to enter the promised land. With 48 Houston will need some luck. With 47 the Rockets will require a miracle.

there isn't any way that the Rockets are going to finish in front of the Lakers, unless Shaq checks himself into Jenny Craig the last two weeks of the season... so, regardless of a win count they are simply going to have to finish in front of either the Jazz or T-Wolves.

Rox needs to get on a hot streak right about now. Ideally they can move into the 7th seed and avoid Mavs in the 1st round.

I expect the Jazz and Suns to slip a little in the 2nd half. It looks like Lakers will be right there in the 5th or 6th seed. This should be an exciting race.

We don't need to worry about avoiding teams. getting slapped around may be exactly what this team needs.

What's important is to GET there, so that we know what's up next year.

I think this is a solid way to think about it:

Count down from 15. We can only lose 14 times. 15 and we're out.

We have done plenty of that in the first half. It doesn't look like our boys got it. :(

No no no. Playoffs are totally different. They will be running their mouths about the Heart of a Champion and how no one wants to face them. Then they will swallow their words in front of EVERYONE to see, and will go back home bruised and battered.

It's completely different when you lose FOUR in a ROW in front of EVERYONE.

If we get swept in the first round, Rudy will be back to torment us for another year. If we miss the playoff, Rudy may be gone.

    Hmmmmmm.....

it would really put us on the fast track if we made the playoffs this year. I say this because the only way to advance in the playoffs is to get there and fail several times. If we dont make it this year, then we'll make it next year and get annihilated (since it will be our first playoff experience). i'd much rather get that out of the way this year.
