so i had to work late last night and so after work i went by the local best buy to pick up iron man and sarah marshall and they were all sold out of both...I was a bit upset but not too surprised considering both were pretty big summer hits...I was a bit surprised since they were the blu-ray versions I was looking for. I left best buy and drove over to the circuit city nearby my place and got in a little before closing time and it was the same deal all gone.

I remember reading on digital bits that a bunch of the iron man blu-rays were recalled because of an error on the first disc that effected certain sony standalone players but that it shouldnt effect stock at retailers.

i asked one of the workers at circuit city she said they were sold out quickly of iron man blu-ray but that they had only received 6 in their shipment. 6! seems way too low for being one of the summers biggest hits and this was the only circuit city in LA (they closed the other two) it was too late for me to go elsewhere to check i'll try on my lunch break today.

i have no idea why sarah marshall blu-ray was sold out at both places.

anyone else have trouble finding either of these movies in blu-ray in stock?
wanted to try to get them before they go up to regular price on sunday.

that's a little weird. i got iron man on blu-ray yesterday and as far as i could see there were plenty in stock at the best buy in spring, which isn't even one of the larger stores in the district. you could always ask for a rain check as long as the ad doesn't say "limited stock" or whatever.

I always go to Walmart to get DVD/Blu Rays bc they usually have a lot of them and they're always the cheapest

But this time I ordered from Amazon, saving shipping costs and no tax

I predict that kids in high school and middle school will spell "Blue" as "Blu" 'cuz of this format of disc within the next few months if they're not already doing it.

I seriously thought "Cool stuff... Iron Man will shoot Blue Rays in the next movie! "

    Forgive me.

I got my copy, fell asleep watching the special features on disc 2.

does anyone else think the discs look sooo plain? i was expecting nicer graphics on the discs. I couldve printed them on my printer or a label maker for crying out load

^ I thought that the point of having Blu-Ray was to minimize discs, and so you didn't have the need for a "disc 2" if it were Blu-Ray and all the info you'd need would be on the single disc in Blu-Ray.

The point is to have more space for high definition audio/video. Sure you could dump 2 DVD's on a single Blu-ray but that kind of defeats the purpose.

Well, I knew that already, but... does this mean that there is so much JUNK to put into one Blu-Ray disc about an effin' film, that it justifies having to get a second one? Again, I thought the point was to have LESS discs. :( Here we go with the "buy the 2-disc Special Edition!" crap they make us buy in order to see special features, n'stuff.

I haven't looked at Iron Man's special features, but if the extras are in HD, then having a second disk makes a lot of sense. For better or worse, studios see multiple disks as a selling point. If the disk retails for about the same as other single disk new releases, I don't have a problem with it. I just want the movie itself to look/sound as good as possible.

WHat's the cheapest place to get them? Is it wal-mart? Fry's? I always thought the first week was the cheapest...

well considering the dvd version is $22 at best buy while the blu ray version is $25, id say its a pretty good deal

    more disc space= clearer image

everything is in HD including the special features.

more discs, higher resolution >>>>>>> less discs, lower resolution

    take your pick

    Buy them online, way cheaper.

Fry's costs 30 bucks for new release BD.

i called every best buy around my area all were sold out of stock, same with sarah marshall.

i called the circuit city in santa monica and they said they had one of each left and would try to hold it for me (but they cant)

i show up and it was sold about 5 minutes before i got there. I tried buying the copy they had playing at the store.

Apparently the error on the first disc did was the reason--the lady at circuit city said that they were told to pull any remaning iron man BDs off the shelfs to send back. According to digitalbits it was an error effecting a certain sony standalone.

luckily for me my friend called a blockbuster in santa monica and they had one copy of each left and they held it for me. So i was able to get both for 30 bucks. I know iron man was 26 at best buy.

there is a huge dvd store nearby work that had plenty in stock but they sell at MSRP for 40 bucks a pop which is absurd...great place to rent dvds though.

cait wait to get home and check out iron man in 1080p

I hear it is one of the best blu-rays around in terms of picture quality and the menus
