There's a George Bush in Baghdad, six weeks old Sydney Morning Herold August 29, 2003 A Baghdad mother and father, to show their thanks to US President George Bush for the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, have named their son after the American leader. Had the couple had twin boys, they say, they would have named them George Bush and Tony Blair. The new George Bush - probably the only one in Baghdad - was born six weeks ago to Nadia Jergis Mohammed, 34, and her husband Abdul Kader Faris, 41. "I tell you all Iraqis hated Saddam's regime. It was only George Bush who liberated us. Without him it wouldn't have happened. "If he hadn't done it, the sons of Saddam would have ruled us for years. He saved us from Saddam and that's why we named our son after him," Mrs Mohammed told Associated Press Television News. George Bush screamed in his crib. Baby Bush, born on July 11, carries the full name George Bush Abdul Kader Faris Abed El-Hussein. He weighed 3.5 kilograms at birth. Two older brothers are named - more traditionally - Omar and Ali.
Of course what the majority of the Iraqi people think is all irrelevant...right? Good to see the appreciation of the Iraqi people. PGabrial, You following him around trying to get into a BBS argument? I thought you didn't care what people thought. DD
5 counting the whole family. I believe Iraqi polls have shown that most people favor what the US did, the differnces now are what to do about the future. DD
Ah, poor baby...did someone step on your itty bitty toes????? Poor guy..... Lighten up Luther..... DD
yeah...i'm waiting for more real true posts about how bush personally piloted one of the planes into the World Trade Center. or more threads with the words "quagmire" and/or "halliburton"
A great work of art? How about some optimism. The idea some people in Iraq are very content with this state of affairs should embolden anyone.
You're not referring to that one what was conducted only in Baghdad are you? I don't want to get into your pissing match with pgab, etc. I'm just hoping you're thinking of some other, better poll that I'm not aware of and not that Baghdad-only one we had that long thread about. As for the story, I'm glad the kid has plenty of extra names to use. Depending on where the political winds blow in Iraq, he might not want people calling him George.
Cool. I was expecting some low blows for this but if an Iraqi felt strongly enough to name her own child after Bush without fear of retaliation that must mean something.
At least his father won't be tortured and killed and his mother won't be raped in front of him just for kicks by sadaam and his scumbag sons. But forget about all that. Why don't they have running water?!?!?
