Let's assume for a moment that the current War Against Iraq goes as planned. We win - Big, as planned. The US Army/govt is in total control of Iraq in the short run. Iraqi "democrats" are moving at breakneck pace to implement their policy ideas. The two Kurd factions may either band together against Iran and Turkey in a trade bloc, or vie with the central Sunnis. The tough part will be keeping the southern areas from defecting to Iran. That is why the Iraqis keep so many troops there... And why it will be so easy to neutralize them. Ooops, said too much... Many Iraqis are socialists. A large # are capitalists (a large minority -proof that a large portion actually understands western economic systems - and the impact they are about to have on the Arab world's only agricultural producer.... There were never any pre-cut deals with oil companies. Basic economic reality: oil revenues will trickle down to the Iraqi populace, not into Baa'th purses. The Ba'ath party will be removed as an economic controller. Market forces can now go to work. The 'Ghosts' I named in the title would include any fickle point you may want to discuuss. Be it economics or politics, open up. Any questions anyone has on the military side, ask me straight up here - I might not be able to answer, but chances are I will be able to set some info out. Get all the 'fickle stuff' out now. There may not be time for it later. So: We Win. What Next?
We win and Bush gets the Oil he so badly wants. Its not about Saddam or terrorism, its all about OIL.
What has he done lately? Should we just forget what happened on 9-11 since he hasn't done anything lately? Sadaam has used WMD before against neighboring countries (and on his own people for that matter to some extent)...the US also abides by any UN rules whereas Iraq/Sadaam do not.
Is that what I said ? There are ties that have been established between terrorism and Iraq...thats what started this whole thing against Iraq. Where have you been ?
Not for nothing..you even agreed in an earlier post that we wouldnt be at this juncture if it werent for 9-11....make up your mind.
There are many countries that could have ties with 9/11. You are failing to see the economics behind all of this. This is more than just a war against terrorism. Its for money too. And that is why I have a problem with going to war against Iraq. Besides, the real culprit behind 9/11 is nowhere to be seen. The US has spent ridiculous amounts of money and time to capture him. They failed miserably. Now, they are forced to turn their attention to someone else. In the end, innocent lives will be lost, money will be lost, time will be lost, Saddam may go down (Although there is a good chance he could still be there when its all said and done), terrorist will still inhabit the middle east, and Bush gets his oil.
By the way, had the US caught and killed Bin Laden, we would not be going after Saddam. The reason we are going against Iraq is because we need someone else to put the blame on.
i wish i could say the word "wrong" in like 50 different languages. we made it very clear that if you harbored terrorists you were in our sights...iraq was in our sights before 9/11...the clinton administration did not change that, either...
I find it funny when someone posts that this is ALL about oil. If it was oil we wanted, we would be going after Russia as well. What most of you dont even realize is that Russia, in all of its non-working refineries (whihc are being restored as we speak), probably has more oil than Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran combined.
Okay, then lets just blow up the middle east. Why waste so much time by going after each country one by one? Why Iraq first? Why not Iran first?
The funny thing is that you dont know who I am. You think its not all about oil. I KNOW that oil has something to do with it.
They arent going after Russia because they need a cover up reason. If we went after Russia it would look like we are going after oil. If we go after Iraq, it looks as if we are fighting terrorism and Saddam. This is true to some extent, but about 90% of the reason. The remaining 10% is oil.
I never said its ALL about oil. Let me put it this way, if Iraq had zero oil, we wouldnt be going after them right now.
okay, maybe earlier I did say that it was ALL about oil, but that was all emotion talking. I changed that opinion later.
