Iran says "Take that!"; seizes moral high ground.

Probably not a subject to laugh about, but I found this somewhat amusing:

    Iranian government bans torture

now we're getting shown up on human rights by the Iranian government?

What's next, getting condemned by Turkey for the state of our prisons?

Sam wasn't the US supposed to release it's yearly human rights report the day the photo scandal broke?

I'll see if I can find a link.

    Well that wasn't hard...

US delays release of human rights report

The United States State Department has postponed release of a report on the US human rights record, amid controversy over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by US soldiers.

The annual report "Supporting Human Rights and Democracy: The US Record" was to have been released on Wednesday.

The report, mandated by the US Congress, details US efforts to promote freedom and democracy around the world.

Its release "has been postponed for technical reasons that have held up completion of the report", the State Department said in a statement.

"We will announce a new date for the release of the report once it reaches the final stage of printing."

Secretary of State Colin Powell told CNN that the report would be released next week.

"My deputy decided to delay it a week," he said.

"It's not that unusual. It will be released."
