With the 9-11 Commision Report coming out, it seems Iran is the country that is funding Alqaeda. so why did'nt we deal with them instead of Iraq?

This is what scares me. If Bush gets elected again, he will use that power to invade Iran, Syria, and any other country that the neo-cons decide to label as "terrorist."

War should be a LAST resort and to Bush, it is the first option.

As I said before, no need to be scared.

Iran has 65 million people -- that is more than Iraq and Afghanistan combined. We can't even successfully occupy those two countries, and the military is still stretched to the breaking point. The chances of invading & occupying all 3 simultaneously are less than zero -- even if we had a huge cold war military, it would be logisitcally impossible without catastrophic ramifications for the US economy and military.

The thought that we're going to invade another middle eastern country, even a smaller one like Syria, anytime soon is fantasy. We couldn't invade anything larger than Luxembourg at this point; we bet the farm on Iraq, and bet wrong.

Yeah, and before the election in 2000, he also said...

"I am a uniter, not a divider," and "By far, the vast majority of my tax cut goes to those at the bottom."

Yeah, and Wolfowitz (it was either him or Rumsfeld) said "We are looking at a country that can finance its own reconstruction, and fairly soon."

We got "intelligence" that the Iraqis would welcome us with open arms, throwing flowers at our feet. I guess it wouldn't take them too much time to gather similar "intelligence" on Iran.

As we've learned, hope is not an effective foreign policy. Hope based on questionable intelligence that just happens to break the way that is politically convenient for the people in charge is even more problematic.

If change is occurring, why screw it up by going in with guns blazing? Stupid immediate gratification mindset...

Go in where?. did you even read what i said?. that Country is a dictatorship, the people of that country cant do it alone. if we are truly about liberty and freedom, then we should support the people of that country to achive a democratic Society. we can help transform that country into a democratic country without firing Single bullet.

Perhaps we could if we had any credibility remaining in the Islamic world. However, we have squandered that in the Iraq misadventure.

Good idea. When we fund uprisings it always works in our favor. Like when we funded Saddam to fight Iran or bin Laden to fight the Soviets.

I thought most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. East Timor, Sir lanka, hell what does it matter, It's just going to get messier. It was healthy and right for us to have hope and faith, but I don't think any man thought Iraq would be the end of it. Hell breaking loose upon earth, seems inevitable now. Everyone of us is responsible in our own way. Nobody's above it. No race or culture is ultimately responsible for creating this mess. We've all played our part; I'm an angry bigot at home yet against war and for peace across the ocean. I feel that I am in conflict with this domestic party and that belief yet I want conflict to end in some foreign land. I don't see how that will work. Our ancestors and their ancestors and on and on back to the first race of men were sitting on this same timebomb. We've just set it off. We've reached a critical stage of evolution it seems. We've always had our clashes and our wars. Its just now we're carrying bigger guns, and can create more rapid and widespread destruction. We'll all have our part to play in this. Maybe this is the mankinds last hurrah, lets make this genearation worthier than any generation before us.
