What kind of playstation numbers will BJ throw up tonight? It appears nextg weeks Texas Tech at OSU will be a regional ABC broadcast...that should be a great game! I hope Tech doesn't look past ISU. I don't think they will, they have revenge on their minds after getting embarrassed by ISU and S.Wallace last year on national TV.
http://media.yahoo.com/ncaa/play/ncaa/sp/iao/fb/iao101103tas this is the only free way to listen to this game Tech-side broadcast isn't free so you are forced to listen to the ISU side of things
You can listen to the Tech broadcast on AM 700 in Houston. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2151354
ugh, 4 first half turnovers other wise this is a blow out 21-14 23 sec before halftime BJ has over 300 yards, but 2 INT TOTAL YARDAGE - Tech 410, ISU 95
UPDATE: ISU: 21 TTU: 45 46 sec left in 3rd Quarter BJ 42 of 59 for 442 yards 3 TD, 2 INT 40 yards rushings with 2 TDs
Thanks for the link Maynard. Works great. Texas Tech has a tough next couple of games on the road with Ok. St. and Mizzou.
yeah, he has been ok 4 first half TO kept ISU in the game ISU tied it at 21 before Tech scored 24 stright to blow it up Tech is running a lot tonight also, over 200 yards of rushing so far.. edit: Johnny Mack just ran it in for another TD ISU 21 TTU 52
Im going to be freaking PISSED if we arent ranked after handing over another blowout loss to a Big 12 team. The day of reckoning will come.... oh yes. Im pumped for the OU game! Should be a good old shootout.
Well im more nervous about OSU and Mizzou on the road the next 2 weeks! if we take care of those games, then I will start gettin pumped for UT and then OU gotta take care of business first
OSU just beat KSU today Mizzou destoryed Nebraska! Final Numbers for BJ 45 of 65 for 486 yds - 3TD 2INT 35 yds rushing 2 TDs
HUGE game for both OSU and TT next week....the winner IMO will have a legitimate shot at finishing in the top 2 in the South...TT needs this win if they want to win the South....It's possible that both teams will be ranked next week too!
TTU will be ranked, the game is on ABC next week so Disney will make sure Tech and OSU are ranked..its all bout money ya see
Didnt quite get 500 yards but its all good. 5 total TDS and 486 yards passing should not harm his heisman campaign. The running game looked good tonight if they can contain that I dont see any team shutting down Techs offense (well maybe OU). Only negative things are BJ's 4 TO's I guess hes entitled those the way hes been playing but for them to beat OSU next week hes going to have to cut those in half atleast. I think Tech will be in the top 25 tommorw if they can whoop up on OSU on ABC than I can see a top 20 ranking in about a week. Man things are looking up, If they can win the next 2 (at MIZZOU and OSU) than at worst Tech will finish 9-3, which is great if you ask me. Also I havent seen this posted anywhere but supposely Tech will make an offer to leach after the season which would make Coach Leach a very wealthy man
Tech set a new NCAA D-I record for First downs in a game with 49, breaking Nebraska's record of 41 set in 1995 I believe BJ has an "off" night as Tech still gets 775 yards of total offense amazing Wreck`em Tech!
I just thought I'd add this remarkable quote from the Chron article about the game: Symons completed 45 of 65 passes for 487 yards as Texas Tech rolled up a modern-day school-record 775 yards. A team in 1926 gained more than 1,200 yards against Wayland Baptist. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- First off how did this game where Texas Tech seemingly didn't play all that well amass a modern day school record of 775 yards after all the other great TTU performances over the years? And secondly how would you have liked to be on the Wayland Baptist football team in 1926?
http://desmoinesregister.com/sports/stories/c6902851/22480317.html ISU glad this ones over Red Raiders shred Cyclones for 775 yards, 45 first downs in rout. By ANDREW LOGUE Register Staff Writer 10/12/2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lubbock, Texas - He's got the arm, the savvy and the statistics of a rising star. And before Texas Tech quarterback B.J. Symons is done, he may own most of college football's single-season passing marks. Symons continued his surreal assault on the NCAA record book Saturday night while the Red Raiders dismantled Iowa State, 52-21. The Texas Tech senior set a new standard by pushing his yardage total during the past four games to 2,239. He burned a winded and worn Iowa State defense for 487 yards and three touchdowns on 45-for-65 passing. He also ran for two scores. "He's a big-time quarterback," Cyclone coach Dan McCarney said. "He's playing out there like a guy who has been a three-year starter, but he's making the most of his one year. "I'm just glad he's not back again." Symons helped Texas Tech amass 775 total yards and a Big 12 Conference-record 45 first downs. "(Symons) is the type of quarterback that when he gets the ball, he gets rid of it," Iowa State defensive end Jason Berryman said. "It's kind of hard getting to him." The Cyclones, meanwhile, were left wondering who their starting quarterback will be this Saturday when they play host to Texas. Austin Flynn was benched in the second quarter and Cris Love gave Iowa State a brief spark before Symons and company regained control in the third period. "I was real happy with the way Cris Love came in there," said Iowa State receiver Lane Danielsen, who had a career-high 192 yards on eight catches. "He kept standing there in the pocket and slinging it." Four Texas Tech turnovers helped the Cyclones tie the score, 21-21, early in the third quarter. Iowa State was still within striking distance when Ellis Hobbs fumbled a kickoff return, contributing to a 31-point scoring spree for the Red Raiders. "A blocked punt or turnover on a kickoff are about as big a plays as you'll ever have," McCarney said. "It's a great job by them and a poor job by us." Texas Tech converted on 13 of 17 third-down opportunities. Iowa State was 3-for-15 on third down. The Red Raiders scored six of the eight times they were inside the Cyclones' 20-yard line. Iowa State got one touchdown in three trips into the red zone. "It could have been a sharper game," Texas Tech coach Mike Leach said. "It was a little bit of a sloppy game, but a lot of good things to build off of." Gaudy numbers have become the norm for Symons. His average of 507.4 total yards during the Red Raiders' first five games was better than 114 of 117 NCAA Division I-A teams. Symons has thrown for more than 400 yards in five straight outings, spiraling him into the Heisman Trophy race. Most of his accomplishments have come in a flurry. None of Texas Tech's scoring drives Saturday took longer than 4 minutes 7 seconds. Symons led the Red Raiders on a 80-yard march in the first quarter that took just 51 seconds. Perhaps the only time Symons slows things down is when it comes to self-promotion. He did not answer questions from reporters Saturday, and has generally tried to scramble out of the spotlight. When Texas Tech officials asked him about starting up a Heisman campaign, Symons called an audible. He asked that the Red Raiders wait until after the game with Iowa State and this week's trip to Oklahoma State before initiating a media blitz. That hasn't stopped national television and radio broadcasters from creating a buzz. "That's kind of the nice thing about it," Texas Tech sports information director Chris Cook said, "Every time you turn on the TV, he's being discussed." Symons is no longer overshadowed by former Red Raiders quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, a sixth-round draft pick of the NFL's New England Patriots last spring. A year ago, Kingsbury completed 37 of 50 passes for 272 yards against Iowa State. Symons had 308 yards at halftime. "There's no question that's a better offense than we faced last year," McCarney said. "Not just because they put up more points. They're a better football team." Symons was facing a Cyclone defense that sometimes featured four freshmen. Berryman and Brent Curvey played on the line. Dominique Flower was used as an extra defensive back. Matthew Robertson started at linebacker. Curvey recovered a fumble midway through the first period that led to Iowa State's first touchdown. "Tonight, we just really have to take our hats off to them," Danielsen said. "They really got rolling on offense and made it really tough to stop."
