I am considering throwing some money into Mutual Funds specializing in Precious Metals. Do you think that it is a good area to invest in given the economy in its current state?
Most of those precious metals funds invest in producers of precious metals, which are just as volatile as the rest of the market. Also, the big commodity boom at the start of this cycle means it’s not going to become “the next big thing” anytime soon.
i don't feel like precious metals would be a terrible place to have your money for a couple years. how much money are you investing?
Bologna. Gold is going over $1,000 an ounce. Watch it happen. That being said, there are a lot better places to invest in metals and natural resources than a precious metals fund. You should consider ETF's, that is exchange traded funds. They are essentially stocks trading on the exchange. And then do your homework and build your own mutual fund out of quality companies. Don't be burdened down with the acquisition and management costs of mutual funds and be limited because they have to buy into some underperforming stock to maintain their diversification. The bull market is just getting underway for gold, silver, copper, coal, natural gas, oil, and uranium, just to name a few.
Go to Mexico and exploi... I mean, export Silver at a high quality and resell it here to Americans only for more from Taxco...
lol i guess i should have clarified.... the silver etf is coming out and people are looking at silver a lot as an investment kind of like when gold from 450 to 550. plus there are momentum hedge funds and traders loaded up in metals. about 4 or so months ago people got overloaded in oil and the related stocks and it caused it pretty good and painful pullback for people who bought late into the hype.
i dunno about just getting underway since a lot of those things are already up huge amounts. but you can still make money because the fundamental conditions that caused those runups still haven't really changed and they don't look to change anytime soon.
the fundamental conditions that caused those runups still haven't really changed and they don't look to change anytime soon. Some people thought the very same thing the month before the tech bubble burst.
Yes, please share them with us. Right now an ounce is selling from $550-580 so you're basically saying that it will double. I don't doubt it will double...eventually . I do doubt it reaches the $1,000 mark anytime soon, those are platinum prices.
