I say this movie sucks without even seeing it. It shouldn't have even been made. Why do they need to do a fourth movie based on "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? Is it because they can't come up with an original idea? I think so. Why do I want to see a movie when I pretty much already know the story? The answer: I don't. This is a rental at best. I lost a little respect for Nicole Kidman for even taking the role. Incidentally, I don't believe any remake can even approach the film version with Donald Sutherland. The last remake was with Gabrielle Anwar and that wasn't that long ago. Yet, here we are again with a fourth one based on the same plot. Three remakes based on one storyline. Oh...but they updated it with current events from the time the film was made. Unbelievable. How many remakes is enough? Shall we make another one in 2020 just to align it with current events? I'll be happy to entertain any reviews for those who see this. But, I won't change my opinion. It may have some entertainment value but it's not going to provoke any new thoughts on an old story that has all but been worn out. I'm sure you will probably walk out of it feeling dumber than before you went into it.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Didn't realize that. From the commercials, I thought they got the idea from the Space Shuttle blowing up over Nacogdoches. They show all the rednecks on CNN talking about it etc. I thought for sure that's where it came from.
Nah...that's just a stupid current event twist they put in there to explain how the organisms make it to the Earth's surface. Then, it's all "don't go to sleep...or else". Bah.
What makes it even nuttier is that it's being released with almost the exact same title as the TV series (same concept) on ABC from two years ago. That show actually became pretty decent by the end of the season, but slugged so badly in the fall that it flopped. I'd be much more interested in a movie wrap up of that series than this Kidman one. Sort of like Serenity was for Firefly. Evan
I think it looks pretty good. I love people who get their panties in a wad over **** like this. It's a movie. If you don't want to see it, don't go. Pretty flippin' simple.
I know I find it odd when people get so upset about stuff like this. Remakes have been going on forever, some are good some are bad. I have my reservations about this movie, esp. after the Wachoski brothers were brought in to amp up the action , but it's directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel who directed the excellent German film Downfall. Gonna probably check out Invasion because I like the director, Kidman and Craig; even if I don't have high hope for it
Yea...and your always there to call them out you jerkwad. Excuse me all to hell if I have a problem with the same move being made four times.
The movie does look stupid. I can understand remakes, but I don't think this one was called for. Between this, bewitched, and the stepford wives, kidman has become the queen of remakes nobody wanted.
I prefer jerkdick, thank you very much. And you're not excused. It's a movie. How exactly does it affect you that it's been remade four times?
Think about what you are saying. Your talking about a forum post being critical of a movie. If that's what you calling "affecting me", then just plain wow. I'm so affected by it. I thought I would comment on it and gauge other people's reactions to this new movie that doesn't really bring anything new to the sci-fi genre. Yes, I want the movie to flop so they don't remake it again. Otherwise, they will remake it again. And, yes, I'll start another damn topic on it again then.
Dude, can you at least try to say something without provocation in it? You couldn't just say...I'm all for remakes of movies no matter how many times and you couldn't be more wrong. You had to go for the "panties in a wad" line and how you don't understand how so-and-so is SO flying-off-the-handle over a movie...as if I'm losing sleep over it when in fact I'm just offering an opinion on a movie in a genre I'm interested in. I'm just saying...you didn't have to come across like that. But, if that's how you choose to approach it, then I guess that's your reality. You provoked a reaction from me. You did your job I guess...if that's what you are here to do.
Nicole Kidman hasn't starred in a decent movie ever since she broke up with Tom Cruise after Eyes Wide Shut... Don't f*ck with Maverick!!
