Who saw the 2nd half last night against the Warriors where Rose scored 23 points? He's averaging 19/5.5/4.3 so far and the skillset he displays is off the charts. I should also mention he's shooting 48.3% from the floor. In the 4th quarter, the Warriors didn't know what to do with the guy as Rose did a Dwyane Wade imitation and hit clutch shot after clutch shot. His ability to get around his man and finish is amazing. So when the Warriors cut him off late, Rose would get by his man, pull up from mid-range and drill the jumper. When the defense was lazy, he would take it all the way to the rim and sometimes flush it.

This is a dominating, budding superstar. I didn't think he would be such a great scorer so soon. In addition, his PG instincts are superb. He can find the open man from out top or while driving to the basket. Too bad his teammates play like a bunch of chumps and his coach looks like he's in over his head.

If you saw Rose's flameout against the Bulls and missed the Warriors game last night, take my word for it: he made up for it. The entire Bulls team played like they were on drugs against Portland, including Rose. Something must have been going on.

Rose has a chance to dominate like LeBron. That's how good he could be. LeBron averged 21/6/5.5 his rookie season before exploding into the stratosphere. Rose might match or beat those numbers. His freakish athleticism combined with his high bball IQ, character, humility and work ethic is a sight to behold.

PS: Anthony Randolph of the Warriors also has major skills on both ends. It will take longer, but he also might end up a terrific player. He might be a string-bean who can't handle a whole lot of minutes just yet, but the Warriors have to be very happy.

I love the way this guy plays too. He's always leaning his body towards the goal. I love his drive first mentality. His speed is amazing. He's just as fast as Aaron Brooks, yet has the size of a SG. How many PG can u name who can do a standing two footed 2 handed dunk? Dang, give me all his apples please!

He looks like the second coming of Deron Williams. He might even end up a rich man's Deron, considering the way he's going right now. To be honest, I was really expecting him to suck this season, since pgs have the hardest time adapting their game to the NBA. Its scary thinking about how good he will be in a few years time. Comparing him to LBJ might not be that farfetched

judging by his stats and the few highlights i've seen, he's been damn impressive so far. i don't remember him shooting so well when he was on memphis. having said that, nobody needs to be compared to lebron. the whole 6'8, 260, faster than everyone, more explosive than everyone, better passer than everyone thing makes it hard to catch up to lebron. plus rose is 15 months older than lebron when he came to the nba. by lebron's second season when he was 20 like rose, he was at 27/7/7.

He'll get to superstar level faster than expected. You'd think a #1 should but it doesnt always happen like that.

Then its like once they reach superstar level they don't keep getting better and better and better until they're averaging 45-17-9.....

But to think he's already at or near Brandon Roy numbers. Rose could turn into a better point guard skills version of D Wade, which would be incredible.

I can see how hype turns people against someone , like Lebron haters. People getting too much love before you see for yourself

He's a great player from the small samples I've seen of him, not ready to make GOAT speeches for him just yet.

And Lebron comparisons, that is just whack.

OK, LeBron might be a reach, but you get the drift. Believe me, Rose's stats don't tell half the story. It's the WAY he does it. Watch a couple of Bulls games if you get a chance because he isn't the same player as last year. See if you don't modify your opinion of his upside. At this point, I wouldn't be totally surprised if Rose isn't a 24/6/6 guy his 2nd season (or even the 2nd half of this season). He's just a 10 game rookie and is still gauging what he can do at this point. Just wait till he figures it out.

Rose has one big thing going for him and one against. The Bulls have no leadership at all on the team from the other players or the coach and this gives him the opportunity to step up to the plate. But at the same time, Del Negro looks to be a very poor coach to help develop and mold Rose's talents for the long term.

LeBron is not a PG; a more apt comparison would be CP3
    CP3

What makes him different from CP3 is his athleticism, hops and finishing ability. He physically dominates other PGs. IMO, he's like Deron Williams with more speed and hops. When DWill and Rose go to the basket, they will flush the ball if you don't cut them off hard; not so with CP3. I can't think of anyone who reminds me of CP3 except (maybe) Nash. The LBJ comparison was not so much for style of play as it was production and domination.

Those of you who have NBALP or NBALP broadband, do yourself a favor and take 30 minutes today or tomorrow and watch the 2nd half or just the 4th quarter.

Agreed totally. I will say by the end of next year he will have creeped up into the "Top 5 NBA Player" conversation. He's a franchise altering player and the kicker is who knows how could he could be if he had a real coach and real teammates?

I agree with Bill Simmons that D'Antoni should have waiting for the Bulls to offer him the job. Rose is one of five PG's on the planet that are capable of leading the type of uptempo offense D'Antoni runs.

I knew he was good. But I would have bet anything Beasley and Mayo would be better at this point in their careers (sorry Oden). Whelp... I was wrong. Best production from a rookie PG I have seen since Steve Francis.

    You just jinxed him. :(

If any PG ever wants a "How NOT to become a successful PG and lead your team into perennial winners" career video, then they should watch Francis and avoid becoming that type of player.

Francis is simply not a winner and I would think Rose has a higher ceiling then that.

Chris Paul had a 22.1 PER playing 36 mpg as a rookie. He was pretty good too.

I like the fact that he keeps it cool. No running his mouth unlike counter-ROY contender Michael Beasley. He stays under the radar and lets his game to the talking.

I echo AP_3's excitement about this rookie. Rose has the body and athleticism of the early Steve Francis, but he's a true play maker. The comparison to D-Will is legit but still doesn't to justice to Rose' talent. Rose is D-Will with extra hops and agility, and his jumpshot development is on par with D-Will's career progression.

Didn't Francis put up those numbers his first year in the league also? ;)

I do understand that Rose probably has a better bball IQ. (okay maybe that's an understatement Rose's bball IQ >>>>>>> Francis's bball IQ

Of course. Wade also put up solid numbers from the point guard slot. I think what Francis did is rookie year was amazing though. He had a ridiculous triple double that season, the most prolific since Wilt Chamberlain. I think it was like 25, 14, 17. Or something like that...
