Got a job interview coming up and reviewing questions and prepping for it. Any questions/tips you guys think would be good to prepare for? IE: what's your strengths? What's your greatest weakness? What type of animal are you most like?
"What type of animal are you most like?" I'm like a panther, not the angry african american activist, but the ones with the huge fangs and claws, like the ones stalking it's prey and pounces on them, devouring them while the prey is still twitching. Yeah that's it.
Or you can refer to Ms. Furtado: "I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away. I dunno where my soul is, I dunno where my home is. Baby all I need for you to know is..." then make some stuff up after the ...
Be sure to have questions to ask them! Try to treat it more as a conversation than an interview, it's more relaxed that way. Good luck!
I got this one once... really. Name 10 things you can do with a pencil. My answer: Draw Write Erase stuff Twirl between fingers Stick to ceiling tiles Spin a ruler on it Play Rocketship Use it for table football Karate chop it Bounce it off the eraser end The one I thought about but didn't use... Drop it as an excuse to check out some good looking gal.
I've avoided that thread because there's probably nothing I haven't tried and if there is I'm too old to do it now.
I have a interview coming up. It is with a top 10 company to work for. They gave me the interview list and I think every single person except the HR person has a PHD (some at crappy schools but mostly top tiers). I know these people are going to ask me the most ridiculous questions possible which at one point in my life I might have been able to answer. I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it. I have had these kind of interviews before, but I had confidence that I was a pretty smart guy. Unfortunately I know now that I am not that smart. I already have job which I am probably going to take, but they already bought my tickets and everything so I don't want to cancel . I really don't want to embarrass myself. What should I do?
Prepare yourself for this "question": "Tell me about yourself." It's an inane and vague thing for an interviewer to say, and yet so many of them do...
Remind yourself: What's the worst that can happen? Try to be relaxed as possible. Some nerves are inevitable, but bring yourself to the point where you don't feel like you're gonna throw up. A good place to start is to ask around from some people whose opinions you trust, and to do a google search of both the most common, and the toughest job interview questions. Maybe look for a forum for professionals in your field, there's bound to be at least one interview thread. Once you've got an idea of what's going to be asked of you, script the narrative that you want to tell during your interview. If you're coming back to a common point, it'll be easier to answer each question. Prepare some good questions to ask. And if you haven't already, definitely do some research on the company. You have a list of the people interviewing you? Do some research and see if you can find some stuff that they've published, and bring it up in the interview if you can do so in a non brown-nosery way. But yeah. Relax. Do your best. Better to regret embarrassing yourself than to regret not giving it a try. Why would they fly you out there if they weren't interested in you?
