Would it look bad if I call my possible future employer and ask what day the interview was again? I wrote down the time, address, floor, and who I was talking to, but not the damn day. I don't know how I did that.
Did you set up the interview with an HR person? I'm sure they don't give 2 bleeps if you call to ask.
I doubt it would be a big deal if you just say you lost or forgot to write down the day. I would ask and not sweat it.
i wouldn't say that i lost the information or didn't write it down. but i would call to say that you are calling to confirm the date/time/location of the interview. i think calling ahead to confirm the details may show you are thorough and detail oriented. calling and saying i lost the information or forgot it comes of as disorganized and irresponsible.
What if they ask: "OK... so... what day did you have?" "F#(*$&." [click] ^ Scarface281 :grin: I would say "I'm calling to confirm, but I wrote Monday" (or whatever close day you think it is, not date) and trick them into saying the date by finishing up with "and I thought they meant the Labor Day or the Monday before"... so they will tell you. Something in that vicinity.
It would be worse to not call and miss it. They're used to cancellations and re-scheduling all the time; politely apologizing and asking for the interview date won't be a problem.
THIS is what I'm afraid of. I'm just going to call on Monday morning because the person I spoke with won't be in the office the rest of the week (I think she is the boss). "Just wanted to confirm that we were meeting at 11:30AM right?" Maybe she will throw in the day or something if I just ask that.
No, please just admit you forgot the day and ask them for it directly, then reconfirm the time, location and participants so you have all details. There is literally nothing wrong with this and you will not positively affect the selection process by being circumspect or half-hearted.
Seriously?? So if she doesn't throw in the day, then what?? Why would you beat around the bush instead of just asking to confirm what day it is on?
No I would just ask the day then, but I'll follow pouhe's advice. I just didn't want to sound bad at my first potential career job.
Honestly, you can just call back and say that you were really excited while jotting down the info and just realized that you missed the date. It's not that big of a deal.
The boss is out of town? Then it's simple - just show up for work. Pretend you have the job. The boss is on vacation. By the time she comes back, you'll already be ensconced. It'll be a pain for them to fire you and start interviewing again.
