At this point in the season three years ago, the 2007-2008 Rockets were 13-15. http://espn.go.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/hou/year/2008/houston-rockets They went on to finish with a 55-27 record. And of course they pulled off the illustrious 22 game win streak. The 2010-2011 Rockets are currently 13-15. Totally different teams? Yes. But, I think a trade or roster move could turn this team around in a very similar way. In fact, things are already appearing to be on the up-and-up. During the 2007-2008 season, I remember RA inserting Scola into the lineup in January and the team took off. What will it be this time? Here's to the rest of the season...
this year it will be, T-Will taking over for Bud in the second unit, and AB returning to the court and playing well
22 game win streak again? No. A ten game, followed by two 5 game win streaks, might possibly happen. It doesn't necessarily have to be 22-0, but you do make a valid point...
yah but back then we had yao for a good chunk of the season/streak, and we had a semi healthy mcgrady...more importantly IMO, we had deke its clear our offense can put up the required numbers, but we still lack a consistent interior presence. we desperately need a big man to anchor the defense...can we just put yao out there with a cast and play 5 on 4 on offense?
The competition was a little more balanced back then a couple years ago, but I think if everyone stays healthy and a good trade is made to upgrade the Center position and the SF position... the Rockets have a shot at 45 wins and the 6th or 7th seed.
Obligatory Cliche: 1 game at a time fellas! While 22+ game winning streak would be freakin AWESOME..its very doubtful - especially with the brutal schedule we'll have in January and February. If we can keep a pace of winning 7 games out of every 10 games, we'll be in excellent position to finish with 50 wins on the season. We'll need to finish 37-17 the rest of the way which is going to EXTREMELY difficult, but very much possible. And i REALLY NEED the Rockets to win 50 games... i bet a co-worker before the season started that we'd win 50+... i still havent backed out of the bet.. i've got confidence in my boyz!
I'm sorry but I'm salivating thinking about TWill and Brooks off the bench and jamming the fast break and shooting down the opponent's throats. TWill handling, driving, and dishing/finishing in the old Lowry bench role and Brooks just killing every team's second unit.
Actually that streak was more due to the phenomenal play of Rafer ALston. He was the reason why that streak existed.
I think the truth is somewhat murkier as the streak coincided with one Luis Scola being inserted into the starting lineup. Something a lot of us on the board were clamoring for.... DD
Yup. I think it was more Scola becoming the starting 4, rather than Rafer's hot streak, although that didn't hurt one bit.
