i went to best buy this morning to look around and for some reason the mtv vmas popped into my head. after scanning the cd section for a while, i remembered seeing this one band that was nominated for an award. they were called interpol and the song was called "pda". kickarse cd. usually my routine is to buy a cd, listen to the one or two popular songs on it for a couple of months, let it sit in my bathroom drawer for another two months, and then listen to the rest of the cd to see if the rest of the songs are any good. this one however... it's the shiznit. i listened to the whole thing straight through. the best way i can describe the band is orgy meets blur if that means anything. whatever. here's a link if you want to check out some of there stuff... interpol... good stuff. by the way... i'm watching "16 candles" on tbs here in atl right now. possibly one of the best movies ever made. molly ringwald's sister easily stole the movie with her wedding scenes. edit: i know i'm kinda late on checking out this band. i saw that the album was released in 2002.
Interpol is absolutely incredible!!! Glad you like them they are one of my favorites. I love the way they take the classic 80's college rock sound and make it modern and unique compared with most music out there right now. I can hear Smiths riffs mixed with the Cure, REM, etc. etc. But in no way is it a rip-off totally original Rock and er Roll...
An organization that promotes international police co-operation? Yeah, I'd say that does sound pretty good.
Love will tear us apart again... Another of their "influences" -- not a rip-off just an influence I can't believe we're talking about this, Interpol is like 6 months old or something they're so old -- whatever...
I saw em when they came. They were freaking incredible...probably the tightest live band I've ever seen in my life. New album should be out soon.
Well, I don't think any band starts up just to totally ripoff another band, but I think it's pretty damn close to identical at times. I still like them a lot. "NYC" is probably my favorite song of theirs. And they're a bunch of studs to boot...
