OK, I admit this thread is created because my sister just found a 70+ yr old photo of my grandfather with the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. He's on the left. A Naval Captain prior to Pearl Harbor, who eventually became the head Medical Officer of the entire Armed Forces. Was on the include list for Surgeon General, but our f2cked up family took him off the list. Dude was asked by President Truman to give him a report of the expected casualties and first responder plan for dropping the first atom bomb on people. I can't imagine the enormity of that job request. I loved this man.
