i'm thinking of getting an email fax service... i.e. one of those services where i will get my own fax number and people can fax me to that number and it will come to me as an email attachment.... this saves me from getting a second phone line, allows me to check faxes anywhere i can check email, and also allow easy forwarding of the faxes to other people... does anyone have experience with this... i'm thinking either callwave.com or innoport.com....
I have an Efax line. The charge is about 15 bucks a month, although there are probably cheaper options out there. Just haven't had time to check. Efax also has this free service of theirs which allows you to get your own fax number, and also allows you to receive as many faxes as you want for free. But I don't think they allow you to send faxes with that free service though. Internet faxing is great, as you can cut down on paper clutter in the office or home or wherever. Often times I'll just digitally sign a document that is sent to me and I am done without having to lift my hand from the keyboard.
I used eFax for years. It works fantastic. They do offer you a free number; you can pick any area code but the one you live/work in. I used to use one in Idaho becaue I love that part of the world and my dad was born there. There is a limit on how many faxes you can receive, though, because I once got cautioned about it by eFax. I moved up to ther paid service ($19.95/month)? for awhile and recently moved over to NetOffice.com which includes a toll-free number, contact manager, and web-based email. I think GoDaddy.com offers some kind of web-based email for about $9.95-- not sure how contingent it is on having other services with them or what... I'm not sure about sending capabilities with all these services. I use them for receiving and have a simple faxphone for sending the occasional fax.
