Guys & Gals...need y'alls help... I'm looking for an internet cafe in the Houston area. A place, usually a coffeehouse, where you can rent PC terminals by the hour with which to surf the internet. I've got an internet-junkie friend coming in from out of town and my harddrive at home is on the fritz. Anybody know of any internet cafe's here in Houston? All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do we have those here in Texas (or even in the US?)? I've seen and been to them throughout Europe, but I always assume they worked only because the internet isn't widely available there.
I know of one place to surf, burn CD's, DVD's and play games.. .it's in the Randall's shopping center at Shepherd and Westheimer. On the side where the Smoothie King is... damn if I don't know the name. then there's always the local library.
There used to be a cyber-cafe called CyberStar on 1960, but I really don't know if they're still around...you might try calling. I also remember reading something about an inititive to bring internet connections to public libraries...has this been done yet? x34
There's Oscar's Creamery & Internet Cafe on 1201 Westheimer near Montrose. It's next to Hollywood Video and across from Slick Willie's. Their number is (713) 521-1808. They have some live music and poetry performances too. Damn you Tex, now I feel like getting some ice cream.
Sometimes it's possible to go use a college connection. If you check out some of the colleges, you may be able to use the public terminals, depending on how they set things up.
Sorry about the ice cream jones, but thanks for the info. This one is closest to the casa, so it looks like it's the one I'll be using.
Do we have those here in Texas (or even in the US?)? They're all over the place. I went to one in Frisco last year on vacation, and I have a friend who uses them every time he takes a road trip. Another alternative is Kinko's. They let you use their computers for internet usage on a per-minute basis. They don't have the atmosphere (or ice cream) that some cafes have, but they are everywhere and open 24/7.
Umm, dont go to U of H. They require your school ID number at the library and in the Tech lab, you have to have a registered username and password.
There's a Korean place called Clicks (or something like that) on Gessner and Longpoint (?). I don't know if it's a cafe or what because I've never been in.
Houston Public Library ...and as long as you are not using the "children's" designated computers or no one is waiting, you can surf any sites The stories I could tell as a HPL volunteer...volunteers and employees cannot restrict access.
