I'm moving into a new place over the next couple days and am having trouble deciding on the best company to go with.

Trying to avoid satellite because the Home Owners Association hasn't approved me to install one yet and I'm tired of waiting. Every day I wait is another day until I get internet/TV in my new place.

Also, Uverse, which I currently have said they wouldn't install until 9/8 at the earliest. That's too late for me.

Any experiences with Comcast or Time/Warner or anyone else?

I had to wait 3 weeks for Uverse when I moved into my new place.

Torture. Pure torture. I had them all scheduled to come out the day after the move-in, then it turned out the people who were in the apartment beforehand never bothered to turn off their U-verse service.

No internet and no TV make moes something something.

I had to watch GLEE for entertainment. I'll never go back again. Never.

If you get Satellite, you won't getting internet with it. At least, I wouldn't. Get Satellite + fastest available internet.

It's against the law for the HAC to bar you from getting a dish unless it's on a pole 12 feet in height or higher, in which case you need a permit for safety reasons. FCC Link (see about 2/3 of the way down).

Cable companies absolutely suck because they hold monopolies. Their guide and DVR is about 10 years behind Satellite and Fiber services.

I'd go with Uverse or FIOS if it was available, though. Fiber is the way to go.

Our dish would be higher than that, Xerobull. It's a three story condo and it would need to be high to get a clear view.

Thanks for all your advice though. Running out to dinner now but will call about FIOS as soon as I can.

    Please keep the suggestions coming.

It is highly unlikely you will be able to get FiOS if Uverse is available where you are moving to.

I've tried others. Trust me: it's worth the wait.

I'm a fan of Uverse. If only they had NBATV the service would be perfect.

Everyone I know who has comcast curses them daily and prays that they experience a cruel and vicious end.

Avoid Comcast like the plague. Worst customer service ever and a really crappy onscreen menu system. Ugh!

I had Directv before which I didn't have any problems with, except no internet. Only had the usual lost of signal from bad weather. Comcast however... they'll find anything to charge you!
