One of my ancestors was an aristocrat who was friends with Martin Luther. My great-great-great-grandfather was a member of the German (Prussian) parliament. I have some French ancestors (ugh!). A street in a city in Germany is named after my great-grandfather; there is also a bus stop there with my last name (it is a rather rare last name). I was tempted to steal the street sign. My great-grandfather was the first person in that city to own a car (around 1900). I don't know much about my ancestors from the Korean side, except that my grandfather fought against the Japanese occupants. There's more, but I don't remember right now.
I think I'm related to Thomas Jefferson somewhere down the line. That's what my mom used to tell me at least.
Oh and one of our ancestors swindles his brothers and sisters out of an inheritance (had racial implications) and created a frozen vegetable company, whos label you can find in most major grocery stores.
In the 1840's, one of my own, was so hated by his university students in Pennsylvania for his rigorous religious standards, they locked and chained him in a railroad boxcar, then shot and killed his dog. The railroad brought him to Central New York by chance. When he got there, disillusioned by life, he started a University you now know as Syracuse. Some of my family served in Washington's army and died. Some established the early colonies that became cities in Connecticut. And to this day, we have a wing in the national portrait gallery that includes portraits of some of their prominent friends, James Madison, and Carnegie Mellon.
Why? From what I've been told: 1 border rider, basically just rode around and murdered people (Comanche, Mexican, Whoever?) in South Texas, original "Texas Rangers" 1 other was a better guy. He killed a Sheriff in Arkansas, and then came to Texas. He was never prosecuted for doing it. "That guy needed killing" is what the town records say. Apparently nobody cared.
My great great great grandfather was a member of the Prussian National Assembly. He was an opponent of Bismarck. He demanded the abolition of special rights for aristocrats. So I guess he was "progressive", even though he was an entrepreneur. One of my ancestors was one of the best friends of Martin Luther and part of his inner circle. I have German and French aristocrats as ancestors (the French were Huguenots). I know all the stuff above only because one of my distant relatives is a hobby genealogist who unearthed all of that stuff some decades ago. Must have been a lot of work. My great grandfather was a doctor who also worked as a doctor on ships which crossed the Atlantic in the early 1900s. I could find some historical records on ancestry.com of him having arrived at Ellis Island on one of these ships (the document has his age, height, profession). But I know he didn't stay. He was also the first person to own a car, shortly after 1900, in the industrial town in Germany they lived in. They named a street after him (with my name) because he helped a lot of coal miners with their lung problems. On the Korean side, all I know is that my grandfather fought against the Japanese occupation. Edit: LOL, I just scrolled up in the thread and realized that I had posted most of that more than 20 years ago already.
Why would she stick her head in the clothes dryer? Functionally I can't understand the advantage? Was she inspecting the metal?
I've known for a long time, but I'm 2nd/3rd cousins with Karim Kharbouch AKA rapper, French Montana. I'm part Moroccan, but I found out about our connection at a funeral of a family member, and before that, during a ceremony for a mutal friend, Lionel Pickens aka rapper "Chinx"/ "Chinx Drugs." Poor guy Frenchie and Ispent a few outings in Las Vegas and Portland. Great guy, generous with charity but I couldn't hang past 5 am with his partying. I guess his label and imprint aren't just a name. Okay, I never post this much. Back to hermit land. Love yall Talk to you on the 5th/6th
Found pictures of my great great aunt and uncle at an old family reunion. Her name was Bonnie, his was Clyde. I had been told this but never had photographic evidence.
