I was at Westside yesterday and strolled over to the basketball court only to see some sort of scrimmage going on with various pro players and other unrecognizable guys all supervised by the new head coach of the Cavs, John Lucas. Not sure why he's having some of his guys scrimmage here, but it was interesting. Among the players I could recognize were Dan Langhi, and Chris Mihm. Anyone here of some undrafted rookie named Brian Jones? I shot around with him after the scrimmage. He said he's going to be joining the Rockets and plays the 2 or the 3. He told me he was about 6'7'' but he looked more like 6'5''. Just letting you guys know. And by the way: Langhi can shoot the lights out! ------------------ Da da da da......da da da.....da da.....da..
Great report Teckor! John Lucas is here in Houston working with Shawn Kemp. He should be there working out -- he's lost a lot of weight so far. ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
Don't forget that Lucas lives here in the offseason. His son played at Bellaire. ------------------ President of the Eddie Griffin fan club.

How'd you get in Westside? Are you a member or one of the staff? It annoys me that all these people are playing at westside and I can't ever see them, even though I could walk there in 5 min. ------------------
Nice report, Teckor. Plus, I am glad that someone is saying this. I think several of the posters on this board think that because Langhi shot some airballs last season, that he apparently is a bad shooter. Good job Teck...hey guys does Kemp live in/have a house in Houston ? ------------------ www.expage.com/saveourunis
Scarface said Yeyo John Lucas was my favorite player when I started watching the Rockets when I was a kid. Man I cant even imagine watching Langhi shooting.I watched a guy named Joseph Blair out of Arizona shoot around before and he hit every shot!He wasent all that graet of a shooter either,he was a PF/C banger type guy.So watching a shooter like Langhi would be amazing, did he do any dunks? ------------------ AKA Rendiggler
Echoing what Ren said, just cause you can hit them in practice.... Langhi's stats last year were awful. I would just like to see him shoot 40% from the field and 60% from the line. Maybe some of you Langhists can tell me if I am asking too much? Also, maybe he can actually make a 3pt this year. I have never heard of a shooter that goes a whole season without MAKING a 3pt shot. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley

This is not too much to ask, Colby, but keep in mind the limited minutes that Langhi had last season. Sure he didn't hit one 3-point shot, but he also took exactly one shot beyond the arc. The fact that he didn't make that shot doesn't bother me, because I know he can. When you get limited minutes as a rookie, and then get the opportunity to go out on the floor for 2 or 3, I would be pushing a little too hard as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Langhi will settle down when he is given a little more time, and start hitting his shots. ------------------ Rockets need power forward. Mo near now. Go near Mo. I saw Mullin hit 50 plus elbow jumpers in a row at a camp. Most of them were nothing but net. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I watched Rudy do the same thing when he was coming back from the Kermit incident. He was still on the injured list, but was shooting before a game. He shot from 15 feet and out for a full 45 minutes. If memory serves me correctly, he missed one shot in those 45 minutes. I saw Calvin Murphy at a basketball camp one time take a shot from under the basket, make it, take a step back, make a shot, step back, etc. He had someone rebounding the ball for him. He kept making shots until he was at half court. He kept shooting at half court until he missed, which was after 4 or 5 makes, I recall. It was a pretty impressive effort. ------------------ Rockets need power forward. Mo near now. Go near Mo. You can Run from the bet, you can Rave at the bet...but you just can't hide.
