http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Practice_Recap_120505-160069-822.html Look, it’s not news, we have struggled to shoot the ball from the perimeter and we have struggled to pass and catch. That’s not news, but those things should not sap your will, which has happened. Truly, it’s up to myself and McGrady not to tolerate what has been tolerated, which is unprintable.” A little surprised by the mention of TMAC. Seems there is more than meets the eye here. What was TMAC exactly supposed to do while he was out?
I think he is pointing out that he and T-Mac are the leaders of this team and they should not be putting up with the pathetic play they have seen this year. Interesting that the Center you just paid like a franchise player is not considered a leader of the team.
I think what he he says is that he and Tmac can change things around, which may well be true. Obviously he's lost faith in Yao as a leader that he can count on.
Sounds like he may even be pointing a finger at T-Mac could this be the beginning of one of them (JVG or T-Mac) leaving town? Maybe he has footage of T-mac dancing with his bad back ala his cousin Vince Carter.
He is kissing T_Mac's ass to save his job. He knows Yao is not that type of person who wants to get involved in personel change.
I don't see how you can get that from Van Gundy's statement. I think you are reading too much in that statement. Could it be that T-Mac is one of the captains and therefore putting people in line goes with the territory?
The interesting part is they JVG put Tmac and himself in that sentence, so I do not think JVG is getting on Tmac. Basically, it's statement to show how he is so disappointed with the Rockets without Tmac I think.
Where do you get this idea from? Gundy frustration with back court doesnt translate to trading Yao. That's too far fetched.
"dogging them" isn't really a fair term if what he said is true. if the team plays like crap he says "we played like crap". if wesley can't shoot then that's what he will say. i have no problems with that. i have a problem with his play calling. besides this team needs tmac to get in the players faces if they are doing something wrong.
Yeah Yao is clearly not a leader type. How many time he yell at teammate about "giving me the damn ball" or "don't do that again, StroXXXX"? Probably never. But it's a good thing, isn't it? A team doesn't need 2 leaders or it'll be .... Lakers.
JVG *rarely* talks bad about his players in the media. That's Larry Brown. In fact, JVG tries to place the blame on himself at all times. I don't know where people get this motion that he talks crap ab his players in the media. And as far as not mentioning Yao, I don't think anyone here expects Yao to get on his teammates and become a leader. That's just not him.
remember when jvg hinted at barry's arrival by revealing someone was coming home? who's available fitting the description of a player who can hit the three, catch & shoot, and pass?
Right on. The last thing Yao needs right now is more pressure. Let Yao play his game. TMac needs to grow into his role as a great player. He's got great game, he just needs to elevate a bit on the leadership side. Next time somebody drops an easy pass in the lane, pimp slap 'em. Ya got to come correct!
Thats what Im thinking! Maybe T-Mac is the one who no longer believes in the system!?!?!? Im about to have a freaking heart attack!!! IC!! Doc!! somebody!!! Please tell me T-Mac isnt going ANYWHERE!!!
JVG just wants McGrady to get on his teammates and demand more out of them, basically to work in unison with his coach. Trouble will brew if JVG and T-Mac aren't careful in how they go about this.
