Haven (that's me!) has been fired by Drayton McClane for losing the World Series with a supposedly invincible roster. If you wish to take over this team, please post your resume here. Drayton will be evaluating each resume closely, so if it's not up to snuff, you probably won't be hired. Extra points for creativity and humor . I am now the GM of the Pittsburgh "Pitiful" Pirates.
I kind of like the idea of having the computer manage the Astros for a season or two before handing them over to a real GM. This way, the computer might make some stupid trades, and let some good players go to free agency so as to spread out the truckload of talent that team has amassed.
I second Raven's post. Who knows...maybe the computer Astros will go crazy like another certain computer GM did at one time in signing players, AHEM...Billy McMillon, age 38, for 3 years at 1.4 million?
I'm not interested in seeing a human control the Stros anytime in the near future. With the talent they've amassed, combined with the revenue difference between them and the rest of the division, a monkey could manage that team to multiple division titles. It'd be too easy for a human GM. Wait until the computer has screwed up the team, which could take several (my guess is 3+) seasons.
I don't want the computer to possess the Astros. I don't want to see them screwed up Fine, your choice. Then I request a move to another division. Finishing in 2nd place doesn't bother me if I still win the wild card, but the fan apathy that my 2nd place finishes seemed to generate in OOTP4 (despite the fact that I've been one of the top winners in the league over the course of the decade) is really worrisome. So is the crazy revenue disparity (Chicago Cubs making 20+ million less than the Stros?).
sammy: Have you seen the progression? First year, the Astros made 72. They've experienced about 4 revenue upgrades.
haven, I have. I also built my revenup up to 93.3 by last season. Suddenly this year, with OOTP4, its down to 83. And then I took a negative bump in the offseason, so it will decline from there.
I would be interested in taking over the "stros. (Although with my superior GM skills that would probably be veoted by everyone else ) IF i did make the move though I would like to bring John Patterson with me in an even swap type deal. CK
I am probaly not the most popular candidate for this job, but I would like the Astros. Representing H-town would be an honor.
I'm giving the Astros to castor, if he still wants them. Sorry, drew... but castor's won two consecutive division titles.
