I'm watching the NCAAs right now and one thing that I have noticed is how bad almost all of the insurance commercials are. I can't decide whether the Nationwide one with the guy with three arms or the State Farm ones where people sing the jingle and stuff magically appears are worse.

I know Geico started the trend of quirky insurance commercials but these now are just awful.

I think State Farm commercials are genius. Like it or not, the jingle sticks. Nationwide needs to pick it up!

I get a kick out of the Farmers Insurance commercials: Farmer University where they set up these preposterous accidents and ask the students to dissect it....

I absolutely love the GEICO radio commercials: wearing tap shoes when trying to slip out of a business meeting!

They all say the exact same thing. They mention discounts (buzzword?) and then how you could save blahblah hundreds of dollars.

I also think Statefarm's commercial is well done. They basically reinvigorated a tired slogan into one of the most catchy, stick-in-your-head commercials of all time.

I actually would rank the new statefarm commercial as one of the top commercials of all time. One of the many smart things they do in that commercial is they are able to vary their slogan and thus it sticks in your head. Best ever commercial in my opinion.

I think it speaks to the argument that these commercials (and the televisions in my home) are on to often that my 6 year old randomly screams out, "CAN I GET A HOT TUB??" sometimes.

Yes the jingle sticks but I see no reason to switch to State Farm because of those commercials. It also makes their customers look like idiotic slackers but maybe that is the demographic they are going after.

I don't think any of them can get worse than the Progressive commercials with Flo. She has to be one of the most annoying personalities in commercial history. I just want to tell her, YOU ARE NOT FUNNY!

Yes the Flo ones are awful but at least she gives some good reasons for why you might want to switch to Progressive.

The point of them is the next time you're looking for insurance, you will check out State Farm's because of the jingle. Upon hearing the name 'insurance company,' State Farm is the first one I think of. I think of Nationwide as well.. and I think Progressive is the one with the annoying clerk?

Mayhem are great commercials, but just the other day I was thinking about them and couldn't tell you the insurance company they're marketing for.. I don't think that's a good thing.

    Recalculating!

    I love it.

Also a huge fan of the State Farm series.

I can see your point but for me personally I am not likely to put State Farm at the top of my list in regard for insurance because of the commercials.

Then again I am one of those people who marketers hate to market to.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there, those state farm commercials suck ass.

The State Farm ones suck bad. People wish for really random crap when they have an accident. Only one that made me laugh was the couple that wished for hotter boyfriend & girlfriend. But Bob Barker? Really? Plus he looks just damned scary with his plastic surgery.
    Allstate Mayhem ones were good.

Bob Barker wasn't that random since he only wished for Bob so he could get a new car.

I personally like this one (Travelers Dog):

My business (Farmers) went from a more serious tone in years previous to a catchy jingle with more actors:

But I love our minority spots, especially because we got Edward James Almos:
