http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3005866 This is just the beginning...hopefully eventually we'll have a full instant replay/challenge system.
not to nitpick. but if "this is just the beginning" what was the rule to allow instant replay for last second shots starting several seasons ago.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3005866 Figured Principal Stern would use it to focus on players' behavior. Not really a bad thing though. Good for both the refs and the players (And yeah, they've had instant replay for last second shots for years now)
Wow if we had this last year, Juwan wouldnt have been issued a Tech during that Okur altercation that swung the momentum to Utah's favor (i forgot which game it was). We couldve gone to the second round!!!!
Cmon guy, no need to live in the past...that's right, breathe....its okay, we have a ridiculous lineup now
Exactly, I think this is good. So often, only the retaliation gets noticed by refs and the instigator gets off. I'd like to see one more addition. Like NFL, let the coach have one "challenge" per game that the refs must review. If the coach loses the challenge then there is a penalty of some sort. Maybe the other team will be allowed three free throws. ...and if the refs made a bad call and lose the challenge, the ref must remove their pants for the rest of the game.
This would have helped when finley stripped the ball from us when he was out of bounds. (referring to the NFL challenge call)
I agree wholeheartedly that the NBA needs a challenge system pretty badly, but how would it work? In football, plays are stopped between plays. In basketball, plays are continuous. Can coaches automatically stop the flow of the game by throwing a challenge flag between a fast break?
