My God is it humanly possible for this guy to ever get out of an inning without having to pull out every one of my hairs??? I mean this guy really sucks. Not only does his near 6 ERA get rewarded in the 8th inning, he also gets the priveledge of pitching the 9th and making me want to bludgeon myself with a stapler.

What the hell are you thinking Garner??? When are you going to realize that BRAD LIDGE SUCKS! He sucks.... sucks big time.... sucks the big kahoona..... sucks balls.... whatever you want to call it. Send him to single A, I dont give a crap. I just dont want to see his sorry ass on the mound ever again in an Astro uniform.

He has personally cost the team a legitimate chance at the wild card this year.

His mistakes are magnified above others because of their proximity in the game and the demoralization of the entire team when he pitches.

Ya know, Brad is clearly not having his best year, but if the bats could even sniff what the opposing pitcher had for an ERA, we wouldn't be complaining about Lidge's closing.

I agree that if Lidge was last year's Lidge, we'd probably be up near the top of the wildcard race, but the same can be said about a lot of players. If Ensberg was hitting, we'd probably be up there too. Same with Pettitte. Wheeler, as good as he's been, has 5 losses. Lane fits that bill too.

If any of these guys performs to expectations, we're probably right at the top of the wild card chase right now.

No doubt, but if only Lidge performed as he has in the past none of the others would matter.

And when he pitches, you can just see the team goes into a "Walking on eggshells" moment.

Instead of being confident that he will do well, they are HOPING he gets through it.

He is destroying the teams confidence along with his own.

    I would send him down.

I wouldnt care if I never saw him on the mound again for the Astros. Now, for an opposing team, then I would be delighted because that means that we will have a come back from behind victory in the 9th inning.

I like Lidge as a person...but Garner needs to get over his myopic obsession with trying to get him to return to form.

He simply can't get it done this year. He needs to be pitching only in mop up duty when we are far ahead or far behind.

I think Garner was "forced" to pull him out of the closers role...but I think he is still gonna throw him into tight games at every opportunity, regardless of results.

Right now Lidge is just not mental strong to stay in the 9th inning.

Garner should stop playing him when we are not 3 runs over opponent.

Exactly. Lets trade him to a team in the NL Central so we can get back in the wild card race.

At this point, I'd rather have Jose Canseco pitching for my team than Brad Lidge. Seriously.

Lidge is far far from lights out but I agree this is a team failure and not due to anyone player. Lidge set up the loss last night but Wheeler gave up the hit at the same time the team that got seven runs the night before couldn't get more than two.

That isn't right. :) In all of July & August, he's pitched 18 2/3 innings and had 21 appearances. Your stats show a 1.16 WHIP which would be fantastic - in reality, he's closer to 1.8 or so, which is terrible.
