So I am trying to figure this out. If anyone can help me, I would be super grateful. I will try and explain it as best I can. When I say 'plug in' I am referring to the big jumble of thin wires that are red black and gold and have plastic plugs or plug holes on the ends.

The old card is out of the AGP slot, and the new card is in the AGP slot. I believe we have connected the new card to the power source.

The next part of the instructions tell us to connect one of the ends into the hard drive.

We have two hard drives. The slots where the diagram shows to plug in, are already occupied by a cable that is plugged in there. The cable that is currently plugged in links both to our second hard drive, and to the power source. I don't know how to plug the graphics card into that spot on the hard drive, and still have the hard drive getting power.

If that makes sense and anyone could help, that would be appreciated. I will keep trying to figure something out, and post again should I reslove the problem.

    Thanks.

It seems like it was ok to unplug what was there in the 'C' hard drive. The computer at least started, and it said found new hard ware.

So I will install the software and drivers for the new graphics card, and hopefully I will be set.

I may need to ask for help again if something doesn't work.

I think it works. Oblivion is installing on my computer and there doesn't seem to be any problems. I just need to remember where each of the speakers are supposed to plug in again.

Hmm... so you're connecting your video card to your hard drive... this should be veerrrrryyy interesting... LOL.

I'm hoping you're talking about some Y-cable to draw power or something.... :D

I think they mean by having a splitter, and connecting your hard drive and vid card to the same line. You vid card should have come with a Y like DoD said. Although i dont think its necessary if you have enough 4 pin power plugs left for your vid card to have its own.

Yeah it was a 4 pin power plug. There was a y. One of them went to the power source, and the other went to the hard drive. So far it works. I just haven't used the second hard drive yet, but nothing seems to be wrong with it.

My old graphics card wasn't plugged into the hard drive, but for some reason the new one said to plug it in there.

Your video card is not plugged into the hard drive, its just sharing power on the same cable. One plugs into the hard drive to give it power, the other plugs into the video card to give it power.

It would be like having a power strip that is plugged into the wall and having a lamp and a tv both plugged into it. You aren't plugging your lamp into the tv, just giving them both power from the same outlet.

That is strange the way they did that then, because there was one plug that went from the video card directly to the power supply, that was a smaller one. Then the regular 4 pin one was a female that connected to the male plugs on the hard drive.

I didn't understand why they wanted it plugged in there. Thanks for explaining.
