yea chuck called tracy using death of family members and friends a cop out of not performing your job wow..
I avoided ESPN and TNT today since I knew the Rox were going to get slammed after last night... You can hear the "Rox won't make the playoffs", "Tracy has no heart", "Yao sucks" only so much...
The Chuckster is ignorant. Let him that think he stands take heed lest he fall. Every dog has his day, and I dont really think Charles is using his brains. Im glad he's not a friend of mine.
at the end they all basically said(except chuck) I hope tracy is going to be alright and if missing some of this lifts the dark cloud then its ok...
Seriously,, chuck was my favorite player when I was young, he got me into watching NBA and play basketball. But when was the last time he said something good about the Rockets? He said good things about the ex-players he played with as a Rox and Rudy... but other than that, he never says anything good.
That's his opinion, it's just his, if I were him I would just hope that it doesn't turn out to be something more serious than we thought and then having Sir Charles look like a jackass for his insensitive comments about Tracy...but again, it wouldn't be the first time that happens.
Charles has a point but he, nor does anyone else outside of his family, knows what all is REALLY going on. You have to feel for TMac to live this crazy curse of a family member or close friend dying every season. Eventually it has to get to you. But, he has dealt with it his whole career despite what the Chuckster wants to say. It has to be a lot more he is dealing with this season.
If I were Tmac, I would make a tape of what Charles said and listen to it before every game and then take it all out on the opponents.
Chuck is bitter over the fact that he, as a Rocket, sacrificed millions to get Pippen on board, only to get a first round exit and stabbed in the back by Pimpen. To make matters worse, he worked like a horse every game, pushing opponents deep into the paint like Shaq, only to get slammed by the fans saying he doesn't play defense. Ironically, when he tried to play D going up for a block, he tore his tendons and ended up in retirement. Just too much to take for the Chuckster. Heheh.
I know how some here like the Chuksta, but I am convinced that he absolutely hated his time here and is bitter about a number of things during his tenure here. The Chuksta has never said anything positive about this team/city or its players, he always dogs them every chance he gets. Based on everything I've ever heard from him about Houston, Barkley hates this city and the organization with a passion...
I recall Mr. Barkley coming to camp 30 lb overweight his 1st season here. the next season - 35 lb overweight. Not prepared at all. He screwed up our inside game and did not fit, though not his fault-he did not know what to do to compliment Olajuwon's game inside. Him having the ball was often at the expense of Olajuwon scoring.
I don't think that's true at all. He has said that he though Rudy was a great coach. I remember in his second book he had nothing bad to say about Houston and pointed out that it had most of his favorite restaurants. I just read Clyde's autobiography and in it Chuck says that they had the talent, but they were all just too old to win a title. He doesn't blame the organization or anything, he just says they were too old, period. And we all know Charles says exactly what he means. Charles likes consistently exciting, winning basketball. He doesn't throw around his praise lightly, and the Rockets haven't done a whole lot to change his admittedly stubborn mind about their play.
Barkley actually enjoyed his time in Houston when he played here. Had nothing but nice things to say about the organization on many many occasions. Some of you guys are overreacting. Barkley does not hate the city of Houston.
I agree that Barkley does have an agenda when it comes to the Rockets. I think Magic and Kenny were saying pretty much the same thing, probably with more tact Fact is if you claim you are the team leader and are earning a max contract, there are certain expectations you must live up to. I love Tmac, and i'm glad the TNT crew didnt coddle him man up tmac, man up plus i staked my fantasy team on you&yao
i said it in another post, but as much i love charles...he is wrong. he doesn't know the entire situation. does he have depression? no. so he automatically doesn't know what tracy is dealing with. him and magic can't get past the fact that there is MORE TO LIFE than the game of basketball. and i love basketball. to me, basketball is heaven on earth. i love it and had hoop dreams of my own before i had a very seriuos bout of depression. it can change your view on EVERYTHING. personally i could have gone the juco route, played there gone to a D2 school and played hoops, but i realized that there was more than just playing hoops. i decided i'm not going to play anymore and just focus on school. best decision i ever made. tracy is going through an extremely difficult time right now and there are only a select few that can really relate to what he is going through with depresssion. now i know that some may say, he hasn't said that. he isn't depressed. and you know, he may not be. but the reality is that he is probably going through depression. being a person who has been clinically diagnosed with depression and seeing what he is going through, it just strikes me as just that. i wish him the best. and as much as i would LOVE to see him give the rockets another championship, i hope he does what is best for him and gives him piece of mind. i hope that basketball is in that equation but if it isn't, oh well. that may be tough for some to swallow, but there is more to life than just sports. and this is coming from someone who plans to make a living and currently is right now off of sports (i am sports writer and will soon be doing broadcast journalism at texas state). i wish tmac the best, and go rockets.
i think chuck is right for the most part; t-mac is a top 5 player who should be leading this team. really when has t-mac ever been a leader since he\'s been in the nba? when the going gets tough t-mac doesn\'t seem to have the will to make the negatives change; he\'s a great leader when we are winning though.
maybe he's still bitter that his team couldn't beat the rockets in those two years in the playoffs! oh so close!
