Created a new thread because I was hijacking another one.

I'm sorry you can't be serious.

    1) The irrational people are the general public who are narrating the hadith. I made that completely clear. Bukhari is rational. Bukhari is one person. How could I mean Bukhari when I say "THESE"?

Bukhari is just the messenger of Hadith. I am telling you that the authors of hadith are not rational people. If nothing else, it is clear in the following situations:

    - Umar Bin Khattab's taste for spilling blood to expand the empire.
    - Uthman Bin Affan's dominance of the compilation of the Quran.
    - Abi Huraira's illogical ability to recall hadith, more than any of the Prophet's close companions. WE ARE NOT EVEN SURE WHAT HIS REAL NAME IS. But we know that he lived a lavish lifestyle thanks to his ability to recall things that the Prophet PBUH said  . This after being homeless. Nice.

    2) How many hadiths have been repeated by 40+ people buddy?

    3) Jeez. Bukhari made no attempt to give you a book that becomes part of Shariah. His attempt was to give you the best possible collection of stories from those times - to the best of his ability. Your inability to distinguish between these two things is quite telling.

To put it very simply, I am saying that if Bukhari came back to life today and saw how his collection is being used, he would be mortified. He will not understand how his methodology was satisfactory for incorporating narrations into literal divine law a.k.a. Shariah.

    4) No sir you are completely wrong.
    - Are you saying that none of the 293,000 are confirmed completely false?
    - Excuse you, where is the actual collection that Bukhari himself wrote? You realize that the original manuscripts of even the Quran are not available? That the earliest dated one is during Uthman (r.A.)'s reign?
    - Ofcourse they will not be found in Bukhari or Muslim's books. They are part of the 293,000. Are you just being obtuse?

    5) He was shunned by almost all. He was even labelled an infidel by many. He got his awards for his brilliant pieces of work no doubt, but if you read his story you will see what happened after he started doing this.

    6) There is no huge difference. It's so generic. Also, going by your methodology, if they are not KNOWN to disbelieve in the Prophet PBUH, then they must be Sahaba right?

    7) Taking 4,000 out of 300,000 tells me that they are more reliable than the rest. But it doesn't tell me that it's 100% accurate nor does it tell me that it is suddenly of the same status as divine law.

    8) You seem to be claiming a great understanding of the "Science" of hadith. Ok, so tell me, how do you establish someone's credibility according to this science? Do you know Bukhari's opinion of Shiites? Can you state it here for the record?

Are you saying Bukhari was completely open to including explicit shiites into his collection?

FYI, hadith does not mean narrative. Feel free to reference any classical Arabic dictionary and provide a link.

    9) What does his instructor have to do with it? What was Bukhari's goal?

    10) Shariah, to you, is divine law. Because Quranic law is divine law. A Sunni also believes that the orders of the Prophet PBUH are a requirement because they believe the Quran requires them to "follow" the Prophet's PBUH example to a T. This is why they grow the beards, this is why they do ablution as they do it, this is why they say that Ta7iyyaat as they do (though the Prophet himself never said it that way).

Unless you think the Prophet PBUH referred to himself in the third person when praying to God?

    11) So what is the difference between a Hadith Qudsi and a normal hadith then? Keeping in mind the famous (paraphrased) "this Prophet does not speak from himself" verse in the Quran.

Also, I get the feeling you believe that these things were easily distinguishable during the Prophet's time as they are now. Can you confirm that?

    12) Wait... what? they aren't infallible? Then why did the Prophet say to follow their sunnah? What about these statements:

But if this is the case, why did Umar Bin Khattab expel the Jews and Christians from Khaybar? Why did he set on fire the national treasures of Persia?

    13) Best for last. So they are not unquestioned, great. So essentially you know that it's possible that there are ahadith labelled as Sahih which are inaccurate? There is a margin for error?
