"Michael Gaines was convicted for spitting in the face of two deputies. He was sentenced to 13 years."
I think that's a bit too much. Shouldn't that be like a fine and maybe a week or two in jail at the most? WTF, 13 years? Some rapists get like 8 years..
well, that's textbook assault and assaulting a cop doesn't help. let alone spitting in the face of two. does seem harsh for the offense, but as you can see he doesn't show much remorse or help his case much. great video. i cant beleive he called the judge a b!tch. she was so taken aback, she didn't even know what to say. i guess everybody was in shock, but i'm surprised they didn't hold him in contempt before, like once he went after the district attorney or whoever.
haha, wow i did not know that. yes that will up the ante. i'd say this guy is better locked up than on the streets. the whole thing could have been prevented. if that judge had any balls she would have shut him up before he got going. she sat back silent after he called her a b!tch, and allowed the flood gates to open. if that was my court room i would have opened a can right then and there.
Your chance of transmitting aids by spitting is minuscule. I would be pissed if I was that guy. You figure judges are smart people and might do some reading, but I guess they rule based on fear and power. 13 years for spitting on the popo? We already have the most crowded jail system in the world. No reason to add to that. Ultimately the cost goes to the tax payer.
Well, being locked up will make you that angry. He even had a story about a guard beating up an inmate and everything. Dude was heated.
I don't know if it factored into the sentencing but the articles I read all mentioned it so maybe there's a connection. So yeah, I agree. Very slim chance the officers could have contracted HIV but that's some serious **** regardless. A cop would obviously be pissed if somebody spit on him but would probably go ballistic if he thought he could have gotten HIV.
Actually, the obscenity laced rant came BEFORE he was sentenced. To me, it just shows he's a moron. Anyway, he'll probably appeal, and I'm sure he'll be out well before 8 years are up.
What a weak judge -- i've never seen a judge at any level take that much before removing a person from the courtroom.
