League sources say it is doubtful, the Houston Rockets are granted an injury exception for Maurice Taylor. Taylor may have killed the chances for the extra cash, in telling reporters he thought he could return in 6 to 7 months, in time for the playoffs... I got this at Bskball.com
I trust bskball.com about as far as I can throw them on this. I seriously doubt that David Stern is going to say "Well medical physicians say he's done for the year, but Mo thinks he can come back, so lets pull the medical exemption!"
I would hope that the league's inquiry into these matters would hinge more on expert opinion than an overly-optimistic player's pronouncement. Why doesn't the league make the player in question go on some kind of "injured reserve" that would make them ineligible for the season? Doesn't the NFL have some kind of designation like that?
