From the chronicle: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2468698 Kelvin Cato's progress continues to be slow. He injured his shoulder and has missed four games. He can come off the injured list after tonight's game in Memphis, but Jones said Cato is still days away from being able to play. "Cato had a second opinion with Dr. (Walter) Lowe (Thursday), and he's still the same," Jones said. "He's getting better; it's slow. He's probably still five to six days from being able to do a whole lot." Cato, who did not travel with the Rockets during their last road trip, will go to Memphis and Milwaukee with the Rockets this weekend.
I'd like to know if Cato's back too, especially for the Lakers game up next. We definitely need him to help guard Shaq tomorrow night, and we could certainly use his 6 fouls. If he's not available, my guess is Oakley will have to get some PT; there's no way Yao doesn't foul out if he has to defend Shaq solo the whole game.
That's why we have Oakley But I'd rather him guard Malone.. Wonder what he'd do after Malone throws some elbow at him or another Rocket... I really wanna see Malone get a taste of his own medicine
I hope Cato will be back soon although it doesn't look good right now. We are missing his defense and rebounding.
Dinosaur head could provide us with a prescene that we'd desparetely need for the Lakers game. Come back soon !
Yeah, that's 6 fouls on ShaqC and 12 pts. Between Oakley and Cato, we got 12 hard fouls. That ought to keep us going for a while.
I'm sorry to tell you that Cato will not play against Lakers tommorrow. Without him, I see a little chance we can beat Lakers because MoT cannot guard Shaq. I miss Cato. Link: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/2479321 Odd and Ends Kelvin Cato's injured shoulder continues to improve, but Rockets trainer Keith Jones said Cato will not play tonight. Jones said Cato is still day-to-day, and his condition will not be re-evaluated until Sunday, when the Rockets return home to play Sacramento. Cato has already missed seven games and remains on the injured list. ... In the past two games, all five Houston starters scored in double figures. The last time Houston starters scored in double figures in back-to-back games prior to this week was March 28-30, 1999, when Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Dickerson and Cuttino Mobley accomplished the feat. The group this week included Mobley, Steve Francis, Yao Ming, Jim Jackson and Maurice Taylor. Overall, all five Houston starters have scored in double figures in the same game eight times this season. [/B] Tough task With Kelvin Cato still out, the Rockets will have to make a number of adjustments against the Lakers. In the past three meetings this season, Cato has been key in helping Yao Ming guard Shaquille O'Neal. Maurice Taylor, who has been replacing Cato in the starting lineup recently, said Wednesday he hopes he will not have to guard O'Neal. The 6-9 power forward didn't find the task appealing, though it was clear he had thought about the matchup. "Honestly, it's not really my job to guard Shaq, and I hope it doesn't become my job," Taylor said. "But I'll just try to do my best. Any way that I think I can get an advantage, that's what I'm going to use. If getting in front of him will help me, using quickness instead of strength, that's fine. I just want to make it hard for him. I don't want him to bang on me that easy. So if I can get (in front) of him, and if he has to dribble a couple of times and then bang on me, I think I did my job."
Does Cato return to the roster for the Sacramento game? Apparently, Maurice Taylor was injured in the Denver game and may not play. The Rockets are awfully thin up front without Cato and Taylor. Let's fly in Malick Badiane right away!
What's up with the reference to Malick Badiane? Everytime there is a need for a PF, a member on here mentions Badiane. He did not exactly put up stellar numbers for his German team this year, and he is unproven at this level. The information we have of him - how does that assure he will be the Rocket's savior up front?
