Hey guys...here i am at work as usual on Sunday night when we have all the normal ball players come in etc. My "source" lol that used to be with Steve all the time came in after a while and we were talking and stuff. I was asking how Steve was doing over there in Orlando. He said he's doing good and chillin. He is with Sam Cassell at the moment and they are chillin here as they normally do. Then he talked to me about Eddie Griffin. He said he has been working for him as well and said that he is still working with John Lucas and staying in shape. He said that Rudy already called him to come and play for the Lakers. He said that other teams have contacted him as well including the Orlando Magic. Looks like Rudy might get his prized draft pick back if everything works outs for him.
Let me be the first to congratulate you on operating a fine establishment. I work a few blocks away, have been there on several occasions and have enjoyed it every time! I hope you're making money off of it, 'cause I don't want to ever change a thing. -- droxford
Thanks for the info, Stack. Did you get the sense that the Rockets were not one of the teams interested in bringing him back? If so, any thoughts on why they (compared to the interested teams) might view Eddie differently?
couple of reasons.... maybe VG still holds a grudge over his behavior when he first came here. maybe Eddie isnt showing enough to make the Rockets as a organization overlook the waste of their picks... I would really hope the Rockets would give him a fair and unbiased look before blowing him off....if Eddie could ever play to his potential(dirty word?), he would be exactly what we need in a 4.....but I dont see it happening. drox.....Im pretty sure you arent the first...but you are correct...Live is a cool place, and Stack should be proud.
I hope he goes there.... that is just what the Lake Show needs another player that wants to hang out at the 3 pt line and shoot jump shots Odem, Kobe, Griffin, Butler ... Brian Grant is going to lead the league in rebounds - by virture of the fact that he will be the only Laker that ever steps in the paint
Hey Droxford, Thanks a lot fot the compliment. And i hope next time that you come by i can go ahead and meet you. When he came out and told me about EG he didnt even mention the Rockets in the Mix. He came out and just said Rudy has contacted him and that a couple teams have showed interest to. I guess JVG is not going to give him a chance cause he doesn't need another 4 apparently and the way he is, probably doesn't think he is worth it even though he has so much talent but never really used it.
There is a guy here at work who is as big a Laker fanatic as any of us are Rocket fanatics. I don't have any links, but he mentioned this morning about an article he read somewhere that said Rudy T was trying to get EG to come to LA. Not much of a colaboration, but some.
Gee, I thought Rudy just recovered from cancer. What in the world is he thinking trying to get cancer again?
Agreed. Although I'm sure a lot of ya'll never want to see EG in a Rockets uni again. I feel that the Rockets can afford to give him another chance to prove himself. Whatever problems he had or still has, we still spent 3-1st round picks on him. Giving him another chance gives the Rockets a chance to make those 3-1st round picks count more than they have. I just wouldn't mind seeing the Rockets giving him a 1-2 year deal. He'll come cheap. And JVG should be able to mold him into one of the premier defenders in the leage, or atleast a Camby-lite.
JVG will never let Eddie Griffin back on the Rockets. Never ever ever ever never EVER. Nor has Eddie done a damn thing to warrant that kind of special treatment. Eddie Griffin's association with the Houston Rockets is over forever. His only link to the organization is this board, who can't let go of the guy. Talk about freaking loyalty!
same reason the nets took on a cancer(kidd), same reason that chicago, dallas, LA took on one (rodman), same reason the Lakers did... the potential for that cancer to go away, and to perform real well.
