There are strong indications the Pacers have interest in Carl Landry. The 6-9 former Purdue player averaged 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds this past season as a rookie with Houston and is currently a restricted free agent. It seems logical the mid-level exception of $5.58 million would be more than enough to land Landry, if the Pacers chose to go that route. Bird said power forward was an area the team would like to address, whether that's this year or down the road when the Pacers have significant cap space available and could pursue a big-name free agent, Bird wouldn't say. "You always need post players that can score. That's an area we're concerned about, an area we're not as strong in as the others," Bird said. "But Troy's been working out all summer. He'll come back and do his thing." The Rockets have asked for more testing on Landry's right knee, but Landry's agent, Buddy Baker, told the Houston Chronicle that's posturing on the part of Rockets general manager Daryl Morey. "Obviously, I view it as a move in his part to undercut his value and dissuade the interest he has garnered," Baker told the Chronicle. "The reverse has happened. Teams have taken the position that he will not match offers. That has opened the floodgates. They are operating as if he (Landry) was an unrestricted free agent." Landry tore the ACL in his right knee in college and missed seven games with the Rockets due to a sore left knee, but came back for the playoffs. A stat worth tossing out? The Rockets were 30-6 when Landry played 11 minutes or more, 25-21 when he played 10 or less or was out of the lineup. -----IndyStar
Old news, but I almost wish he would sign an offer sheet just so the Rockets can match or move on in the free agent game. DD

That's a pretty bad comparison though. Taylor was an obvious bad contract. We should use a good and fair contract to determine his worth.
If the pacer's sign him to a full MLE contract, it would be hard to see the rockets matching. Landry's just not worth it. He's not even a low post threat, what the hell is Indiana thinking?
this Indy star guy might be right about the prospect of landing landry wif the full MLE, but i don't think the Pacers will offer that, esp because of a troubled knee. but i have to say that there aren't that much good PFs obtainable from the Pacer's perspective, with only the MLE. Nened Kristic, Jurt Thomas, craig smith and for the love of god, Kwame Brown are the only free agents that comes to mind.
Overpay so we don't match. We finally have a good 4/5 rotation after years of it being one of our glaring weaknesses. It'd be a shame if it was only for one year, especially with Yao being injured most of that year. But in the luxury tax era maintaining financial flexibility is key.
Milsap? He's better than Landry and is a handful down low. He's a RFA too, but Utah will probably match a full MLE offer anyway.
I would think that the Turiaf signing set the value of Landry, they might over pay with a full MLE offer to force the Rockets hands....but if they do that....the Rockets would finally be free to move forward either with Landry or without. Right now they are in limbo while they wait on Landry, and it will stay that way until Landry signs an offer or agrees to a contract with the Rockets. Morey tied his own hands by only signing Landry to a one year deal last off season. DD
i say sign him for MLE so we can trade him with head for a decent player, because right now landry is somewhat hot we can use him to maybe pry off artest, similar salaries i do belive
landry will be nothing without T-Mac setting him up for wide open dunks or easy put backs from yao being doubled in the post...i like the guy, but for the love of jebus, don't overpay him especially with the health concerns.
