Has anyone here tried it. I've never done it but want to learn. Thinking of checking this place out:

Has anyone been or had any rock climbing experience?

I used to climb there and Indoor Ascent (no longer open) pretty much daily. Its blast.

    Some pointers:

Buy your own climbing shoes. If the psycho extreme sales guy tries to sell you shoes that crush your feet into one giant toe (stating that pain is ok and will go away), punch him in his granola face and get comfortable shoes. He's wrong and will end up costing you 120 bucks.

Bring a friend. Its much easier to climb with someone else who can belay for you.

Bring water, you will sweat like crazy.

UH rec center is okay from what I hear, but the Texas Rock Gym is where it's at. I go to the one on I-10 twice a week (or whenever the golf course is closed). They'll rent you gear if you go there, I think it's $5 for shoes and $3 for a harness.

If you don't have a partner, you can climb on the boulder and up to about 10 feet on the main walls. A lot of times, people will be happy to have you climb with them though.

The people are super nice, both the staff and the customers.
