The Lakers are up by 30... This will sound stupid...but even after a championship and a 2-0 lead, I still thought they were running on luck and that the Spurs were a better team... I HATE LA...but we are facing another dynasty... ------------------
That's what happens when you face a team that gave up two games ago. It is the competition. The Lakers are playing at a high level, but the Spurs are playing Bull quality basketball. They simply didn't try. Pitiful, and I would bet against that dynasty. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Home of Turn, Tweak, and all your demented favorites!
RIP Spurs. It was a good season, you just ran out of gas when it counted, and lost to a team that is just refusing to lose. I don't think they would have won this series even with a healthy Anderson, the way the team is playing right now. They just didn't want to win bad enough. I'm with you SRJ in that I feel San An could and should have beat this L.A team, their role players just did not step up when it counted. This series could easily have gone the other way, but it didn't. L.A definately deserves to win. Btw, this game is just flat-out pathetic and embarrassing. I'm waiting for The Cat's EXCUSE this time. I told you ALL the SPURS HAVE NO HEART! David actually showed up tonight but the rest of the team just plain ol SUCK! ------------------
ZRB...how can you knock the competition? This was widely accepted as the strongest Western Conference EVER...and they have SWEPT it... I really hope their is no dynasty, putting up with Jordan and the Bulls pissed me off no end...and I couldn't stand to see Kobe and the Lakers take over and the whole basketball world to center around his jock strap a la Jordan...but what's going to stop it? Tear this opinion to pieces mate...give me some hope! ------------------
Well you can forget about competing in the West the next 5 years. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
Rocket Rich; you are exactly right. I couldn't say it any better. The Spurs showed almost no heart tonight, especially in the 3rd quarter when their season was on the line. Both teams have quality talent and overall game, but the Lakers simply want it so much more. The Spurs just look content with getting this far, and to me just aren't showing any desire to get past this round. The Lakers are the exact opposite. Bad combination. I'll give the Lakers credit where credit is due: they've demolished the Spurs, and their desire to win is incredible. They're playing great ball right now. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Azim....forget their role players not steping up, how about their superstars! Game One - MIA D Robisnon Game Two - MIA D Robinson Game Three - T Duncan It's bloody painful to say it...but Shaq and Kobe have showed up for every game of the playoffs. I am just stunned. This is a team with Brian Shaw, Rob Horry, Rick Fox...and it's SWEEPING THE WHOLE F#CKING Play Offs! ------------------
If I'm Webber, I wouldn't stay in the Western conference either. His chances are much better in that JV Conference a.k.a. the Eastern Conference. ------------------
When teams realize that they have to actually double team Kobe Bryant in order to play defense against the Lakers, they might manage to win a few games. Also SRJ, here is some hope: The new rules! Shaq will be ruined! The zone defense will finish the Lakers, and it will be a Bucks-Mavs or Rockets final! No dynasty for LA, until they change the rules back. Also, Shaq is 29! His game will start to decline soon. Kobe will not be the same player when he gets the doubles swarming him, and all the Laker role players are a few years from retirement. I pick this club to win one, maybe two more titles in the next six years. Not this year, the Bucks will make history, and stun the world. Bucks in 5. 1 Bucks-111 Lakers-107 2 Bucks-108 Lakers-109 3 Bucks-122 Lakers-106 4 Bucks-95 Lakers-93 (Cassell-game-winner) 5 Bucks-126 Lakers-122 OT ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Well you can forget about competing in the West the next 5 years. I wouldn't go quite that far. The Lakers are playing unbelievable ball right now, but that doesn't necessarily translate into the next season or seasons to come. The Spurs of '99 showed that. The Lakers will always be good with their talent; but what makes them so great right now is the rhythm and balance the whole team is in on both ends of the floor. They're excelling at almost all areas. You can't count on them to recapture the chemistry they have going now again. For the next 5 years, they'll definitely be competitive, but I seriously doubt you see another run like the one this playoffs-- the chemistry they've acheived now is probably too good to reproduce. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! They are indeed for real, but my question is: After this season, how long can they keep that desire alive? That'll be the real test. They're certainly not going to find any real test in these playoffs. ------------------ Gascon
After watching that devastating performance I had some doubt. I think if anybody can beat the Lakers it's Milwaukee, because if they can get the Big 3 clicking I don't know if the Lakers have the weapons to hang with them. It would essentially be Kobe and Shaq vs Big Dog, Ray Allen, and Sam Cassell. I think the Bucks can do it. The Lakers have the advantage at center, but I think the Bucks backcourt is better, as long as Ray Allen plays Kobe to a standstill or close. Besides who is going to compete with the Lakers the next few years? Not Portland. Or San Antonio. Dallas isn't experienced enough, and Utah is to old. I don't think desire is a problem. And I don't think chemistry is a problem. People keep saying how are they going to keep winning with Fisher and Fox, well the same way the Bulls won with Hodges, and Burrell, and Kerr and Paxson and Cartwright and their 3 headed monster. ------------------ See the three, be the three. Robert Horry, and Rick Fox to a lesser degree, are very underrated. They also benefit from the "star makes the players around him better" thing... ------------------
Sorry, "Chicago Bull" quality basketball. I didn't mean to sound like I was insulting Bulls, I'm an animal lover, you know. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Protrolls.com! Home of Turn, Tweak, and all your demented favorites!
I wouldn't count out San Antonio and Portland from competing with the Lakers-- so much of basketball is about desire, which the Lakers have shown this entire series. If one of those teams makes a wise FA move or draft move and gets going in the regular season, they definitely have a very solid chance to compete in the postseason. And both Dallas and Houston are one physical big man away from being legit threats, experience or not. Desire and chemistry may not ever be a major problem for them, but if I had to bet, they will never be to this year's level again, so things will be very competitive. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! I wonder if people said the samething about the Bulls after they beat Portland to win their 2nd title. . . ------------------ See the three, be the three.
Natch---thats a byproduct of Phils excellent coaching. Everyone said the same thing during the Bulls first two runs. As long as he has a player on the floor who wants it, and he does in Kobe (as he did with MJ), he can coach the rest of the team to follow. Thats the genius of Phil Jackson. ------------------
