Austin Rocket fans, be careful on your way home. It took me 50 minutes to go 10 miles home. Wrecks everywhere, and people are driving like idiots. Roads are completely iced over, and road crews haven't gotten salt on the highways yet. Mopac Northbound is a total clusterf*ck. Stay home tonight and watch some of those unopened DVDs.
It's awesome up here in Dallas. Even though the Rockets forced my to be away from RM95's Girl tonight when we both won't be able to make it to work until late tomorrow.
I picked the ABSOLUTE worst day to make a round trip drive from Austin to Houston and back to Austin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why am I so cursed? It took me 2 hours to get from Riverside to Parmer! I didn't leave the heater on in my apartment when I left for Houston this morning. I just got back and it is currently 51 degrees in my apartment and the entire area is covered in snowy/slushy/ice! Again, why am I cursed? How will I freakin' run tomorrow? I thought this morning was a bad run. Tomorrow is going to be hell.
DV -- you can check closures here: http://www.news8austin.com/content/closures/ Nothing for UT as of yet.
Just got back from sledding down by North Cat Mountain. Originally started out walking down the street to Woodhollow close to Spicewood Springs. My buddy and I ripped out a metal "pre leasing" sign from Archstone to use as a sled. We went down the hill a few times, but since there were like 25 other people there, the surface wore down in like 20 minutes. We then drove all the way down Far West to the huge hill down North Cat Mountain. Sledded downhill over and over again, until my back hurts. Damn fun stuff.
for the love of god i hope UT closes in the morning. i have a test at 9:30 in my communist china class and i would love to have 2 more days to study. they probably won't announce it till like 6am or something kind of like how they do when they wait to decide until like 11 am if the university will close at noon the day before thanksgiving.
I can just see the headlines on wednesday now... "10 students killed due to university neglect. Possible cause, student government elections, more on page 4." CLOSE THE UNIVERSTIY PLEEEEASE! btw... I have homework due at 11 which I haven't finished yet.
I think the UT admin's are hoping the weather doesn't get worse. I'm surprised Gregory was open till 1 AM and the busses worked their regular schedule. It won't be up to UT if the busses can't run and faculty/staff can't get to campus tomorrow, they'll have to close.
Bernie I think you might be out of luck http://www.utexas.edu/spotlight/weather030225.html University closed until 11 a.m. today (Feb. 25) February 25, 2003 Because of weather conditions The University of Texas at Austin will be closed until 11 a.m. today (Feb. 25).
Well, I went outside to try running in the SNOW that has accumulated in north Austin. I got through 100 yards and slipped and fell in the street, hurting my ankle. Sadly I have trudged back home.
If you're actually going to drive, be careful. I just saw a car lose control and do a 360 in the snow on the street by my apartment complex. Too bad I have to drive to the store now. I'm out of TP.
I just got a call from my boss, telling me that my place of work isn't gonna open until 10:30 this morning, instead of 8am.
