It seems that Yao is targeting to return on Feb 1st against Milwaukee, assuming that Mac can be relatively healthy from then on, we will have 38 games left since then. Can we go 30-8 during that stretch? Every game will be important for us and there is absolutely no room for error. I am assuming that we will lose: 2/16 @ Phoenix 3/12 @ Spurs 3/18 Spurs 3/21 @ Dallas 4/7 @ Warriors 4/15 Memphis 4/17 @ Denver 4/19 Spurs That makes the next 11 games before Yao's return quite important. If we can manage at least 4-7, that will give us 16 wins before Yao's return. And we probably only need to go 28-10 in the final stretch to get into the playoffs. If we go worse than 2-9 in the next 11 games, the season is officially over. Serious discussion only, please.
And for the next 10 (not 11) games, if TMac plays: 1/14 New Orleans - win 1/16 @Atlanta - win 1/18 Dallas - loss 1/20 @Chicago - loss 1/22 @Detroit - loss 1/23 @Milwaukee - loss 1/25 Charlotte - win 1/27 Minny -loss 1/29 Miami - loss 1/30 @Memphis - loss We must win these three games and that will put us at 15-29 for the final push. Anything better than that is a big plus for us.
I hate to sound like such a homer, B-U-T, if all our guys come back healthy, I BELIEVE we can beat anyone.
Agreed. If healthy, this team is one of the ten best in the league, at least. But when will we be healthy? Will TMac every be healthy this season? Who knows? Right now, I see us in the lotto.
Yeah but you forget an important thing Furious Jam, Not that history is certain to repeat itself, but our record of Yao less McGrady is like 0-8 or something. The key is having both healthy for us to have any legitimate shot. theSAGE
That's like when Phil Garner said in an interview at the all-star break the Astros should win out the season and play .650 ball. Haha that was hilarious. and look what happened. (yes we lost but hey, world series!)
I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky. I think about it every night and day. Spread my wings and fly away. I believe I can soar. I believe... aw, screw it. Seriously. I agree.
Surely it will be tough....REAL TOUGH. But like Yao Ming said, we should not give up and yield easily. Just believe that with the return of a healthy duo of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, this team will propel and start winning streaks to repay the heavy debts they are currently in. Imagine how boring the playoff will be without the Rockets !!
