    LOSE WEIGHT!!!

I think that is his biggest problem. He has gained alot of weight. He needs to loose atleast around 20 lbs. I mean, I wouldn't call him FAT, he is still in good shape. But not McGrady shape. McGrady= Slim, long, high-flying athlete. He doesn't need all that muscle on the upper body because its not like he drives in alot or backs someone down to get to the basket. Thats Ron Artest. Ron needs to be big and strong because he loves forcing his way to the basket. Thats his game. But McGrady has made a living off of his quickness and the ability to get UP. He has lost both of these skills due to being overweight.

Loosing weight will help him recover faster. If he can loose atleast about 20 lbs in the next month or so, thats 20 lbs of pressure off his knees. I think he should sit out the next week or two and just work on loosing weight. He is still as talented as he was in Orlando, but cant use his talent because of this.

20 lbs lighter + the beard = VINTAGE MCGRADY!!!

In order for T-Mac to be what he used to be, he needs to see a sports pyschologist.

That is what "NOT DOING YOUR REHAB IN THE SUMMER" does for you.

This is why the doctors have told him to play, he needs to strengthen his knee, and lose that weight.

He is even sporting the fat guy faux chinline beard.

Been saying this all year......and uh....Tmac....pssssttt....extra weight is not good for your knees.

His biggest problem is his patience on offense. If he attacked as soon as he touched the ball he would get to the hole a lot easier. But he tends to sit and wait when he gets the ball and that allows the defense to setup and double him.

Thats because he is not that quick anymore and cant blow by his defender. He moves like a fat lady, blaming it on his knee.

my grandmother had two knee operations. she was lazy about the rehab both times. neither knee fully healed from the operation. the lost mobility turns into an excuse for weight gain which now puts too much pressure on both knees.

    tmac = my grandmother.

what would you say his chances of a contract extension are?

I believe that next year (a contract year) Tmac suddenly, miraculously, is all better and plays great, giving the team or other teams hope, and a new contract.

Yeah but if he did that it would make it easier on him. He still has showed that he can finish around the bucket even without being athletic. The problem is lately he tends to start driving when the lane is clogged up. I swear if he attacked as soon as he touched he would get easier baskets even being out of shape.

But I agree with your original point of this thread, he needs to get in shape.

Smoothie, I hear you about the knee, but didn't they just do arthroscopic surgery and clean out particles in T-macs knee. Now I maybe wrong but isn't that a minor surgery.

Actually you made a good point there. He does wait too long. But thats just because RA likes running the offense through Yao, so he has to wait and see if Yao can get position or not. I really think McGrady needs more PT when Yao is on the bench.

Barring a miraculous playoff run, where we see a vintage T Mac, I'd have to think slim and none.

What wouldn't surprise me, is another disappointing post season, and then Tracy comes to camp next October declaring that he hasn't felt this great in years, and that he's looking forward to finishing his career in Houston, and wants to sign his max extension ASAP, so it won't be a distraction.

i might have agreed with this before. right now i dont believe he has any control over it. sure he might have played up some injuries in the past, but right now i truly feel it's out of his control.

i dont think he will ever be healthy in the real definition of the word. he might be healthy enough to play, some nights. but he's not getting back to 100% even for a portion of a season... he might not ever get back to 80% for a portion of the season.

i hope you're right and he raises his worth... and i hope the rockets dont fall for it. i would trade his and rafers ending contracts for a new backcourt, or just wait for them to expire and sign other players.

unfortunately i'm not a doctor, but my mother wishes i was.

as far as i know, not following the rehab schedule isn't good. that's what has caused the problem. if anyone can answer this question better, please do.

About as minor as a surgery can get, they didn't shave the meniscus, or tighten up the ligaments, they simply removed loose bodies.

Does anyone know the actual weight? He looks about 15-20 pounds too heavy.

This is what's really frustrating. He does it game to game also. He has a triple double, and all the TMac apologists come out saying "see he's fine" then 2 or 3 straight terrible games and they all say "his knee hurts". His great game once in a while is keeping some Houston fans "satisfied" and that sucks.
