There, I said it. So I'm here in Orange County right now, as I am every few months for work stuff. As always, I get hyped up about eating at In N Out, and each time I leave very underwhelmed. It's basically a standard hamburger with some special sauce that's good, but not great. The amount of publicity given to In N Out is not justified. On Sunday, I was in Raleigh and had a "Thickburger" at Hardee's and was equally let down. Give me a Whataburger w/cheese and jalapenos any day of the week. Still the best fast food burger in the country. If Whataburger expanded into the West Coast, they could easily steal market share from In N Out and Carl's Jr.
do you get the double double? man i love the double double im gonna be in cali for xmas and i cant wait to get my hand on a few of those
Isn't it Hwudda Burga in certain areas of Texas? In-n-Out gets more and more disappointing every year. You can wait up to an hour and a half getting your plain-ass burger during meal hours (around 3 o'clock, the morning or after midnight....). It seems like the wait gets longer every year. That said, I can still wolf down 3 animal styles or 4 by 4s to the point where someone can charge crowds to watch.
Never. If I could have In N Out and Pizza My Heart everyday for the rest of my life, I'd die a happy man. Of course, it'd be sooner rather than later...
I've tried both regular and Animal-style, and it didn't make a whole lot of difference. Also, their fries are generally soggy and unspectacular. I did notice the ridulous drive-thru lines, so apparently they're doing something right. I just don't see it.
I live in Cali and get In N Out probably twice a month. It's delicious if you aren't expecting some life-changing experience. The burgers are juicy(not greasy) and the buns aren't all full of sugar like at other fast food places. The fries are actually real fries too...it's the perfect basic burger.
I liked Carl's Jr. the best non-houston place to me though is Braum's. why can't we have that down here? and then they show Braum's commercials during Big XII games on Fox to piss me off.
All I get here in NY/NJ are tiny crappy WHITE CASTLES Burgers!!!....chicken rings are pretty good tho I miss Whattaburger...and especially those Breakfast Taquitos after the club!
Do you guys remember Charlie's? I think that is what it was called. I believe it was in Spring, Tx or maybe the woodland's or Oak Ridge area? Man, that burger was life-changing for sure. They made these juicy thin burger and they made their own chips as well. That place was awesome.
The closest Braum's is in Hillsboro on I-35N about 30 miles north of Waco. I know the commercials that you're talking about that come on during FSW broadcasts. They talk about like a bag of 1/6 lb. burgers for $1.99 or something. They look damn good too. Braum's specialty is their ice cream, but they do have some good burgers as well. Smokey, all that hoopla about the Taco Bueno hot sauce is total BS. It's basically another Taco Bell as is Del Taco.
They aren't bad if they're fresh. But they have the BEST ketchup of any fast food joint, bar none. And nothing like a couple of BOB's after a night of drinking. I wish everyone served breakfast starting at 11pm.
Recipe: Take one classifieds section from the L.A. newspaper (no color ads, it must be black and white), and lay down one sheet of newspaper across a large cookie sheet. Sprinkle the newspaper lightly with sawdust, and then lay another sheet of newspaper on top and then lightly sprinkle with sawdust. Do this until you've used the whole classifieds section. Then mix regular household bleach with beach water. about 1 part bleach to three parts water. The trick is to have enough bleach to fade the print, but not enough to taste "bleachy." pour enough of this mixture onto the stack of newspaper/sawdust to get the whole thing thoroughly wet. Press to remove excess, and then let dry in the sun for a day. You should end up with a thick sheet of white cardboard like material. Cut into thin strips and then deep fry. There.....now you have In N Out fries. In N Out Burger sucks.
