Just looking to get a consensus of the board. I'm having trouble keeping up with all the opinions in the 9 million threads around here. I'm particularly interested to see who cares about 2010 and who doesn't. Poll allows multiple selections in case you are equally OK with different scenarios.
Hoping? Make a move to improve the team. Everyone cares about 2010, but thats not for awhile. Lets worry about this season and next, then worry about the 2010 free agency.
this season is as hopeless as it gets, i really don't see the rockets pass the 1st round if they make the playoff. unless a metamorphsis taking place inside of yao ming.
Cant blame Yao for the poor performances this season. Yeah, he could play better, but so could everyone else in the league. The rest of our team needs to step it up.
if yao doesn't demand 17+ shots a game, this team is going no where. yao needs to be the leader. i think he's almost ready.
That is what I am hoping for make a move to improve the team now screw 2010. I still want TMac to be traded and not Ron though. If TMac is still here past the 19th it will be another first round exit.
I think at this point its pretty obvious we can't keep Artest. We won't have his money next offseason unless Morey can get someone to take McGrady's expiring for the big 2010 crapshoot. Who says we don't just let Tmac play out his contract and enter the big sweepstakes ourselves? If we keep McGrady for that reason I'm fine with it. It will make next season interesting to see if teams get desperate to trade for his expiring deal. We could potentially add a big name without having to overpay. This season has proved to be a huge disappointment, so I'm pretty much ready to dismantle the whole team and start something else.
I dont think Yao is ever going to be the leader we want him to be, which is fine. Someone else on the team needs to step up and be the leader and demand Yao gets more touches. Yao is the robot on our team, he needs a good leader for him and the team.
Yao is my favorite player by far, on the team and in the nba but he isnt a leader, he wont be a leader and honestly he doesnt need to be a leader. This team does however need to rebuild around Yao and its the easiest way too. 4 3 point shooters on the court at the same time. (CV ring a bell)? Artest is the leader type who will say its Yao's team and speak on his behalf. I've seen it happen. And before the last couple games he was the teams best 3 point shooter taking advantage of Yao's dominance on the paint. Morey (preparing to be flamed) has been a screw up and after lotsa thought and thinking he was the **** it occurred to me. He had a chance to get rid of Tmac for Billups and McDyes (or wallace?). yes yes we didnt know Tmac would end up like this but think about this. Morey is a stat man. He should had realized stat wise that players after big surgeries have a hard time coming back. Not only that but looking at the declining performance it should have been a no brainer. He alone is a upgrade at the 3 point shooting. And Rafer hugely. Then this trade would have made a move to trade either Rafer or Brooks. Morey had a chance to get CV for Landry. Look. A lot of you guys are saying Landry is better, blah blah. You know what you are right. Very right. (although after that trade talk CV has been lighting up every team they played, weird huh?). But do you always think of personal skill compared to what he brings to the team. What does he bring? He spreads the floor with the 3 point shooting. He also brings length. (for those of you who says he has no hustle or doesnt use his length I believe was the this trade is stupid type people sure could have fooled me with his performance of lately. Scola would have been 6th man (and he has played the 5 quite well against other bench centers.) Okay but Morey brought in Artest for little to nothing. Dude(s), you act as if he planned everything since Bonzi? Jackson? Please Kings were offloading him. He made it publicly known he wants off. Not a hard scenario. But he passes up 2 upgrade trades and he then takes for ever to come up with a trade. Yao has the option to opt out in 2k10 and if things get worse then this do you think he will? This isnt Yao's team at the moment. We havent built around him yet. If you was Yao and this is the fustration you deal with would you opt out? So when doest the team start rebuilding around yao?
I think any hope of a championship are squashed with the makeup of this team. I think we basically have to sit and wait until Tracy's contract ends and then rebuild. I don't think there are going to be any takers if we tried to trade him and his salary seriously hampers our attempt to build up the team before he comes off the books. Hopefully we'll get a star free agent in that offseason so the transition won't be that bad.
I hope we can at least get a first round pick from someone. It's going to really suck watching Sacramento use our probably lottery selection.
